County Arrests

• On July 14, Paige N. Moody, 28, of Warren was arrested on a petition to revoke and to enforce fines levied.

• On July 15, Gregory S. Smith, 50, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of manslaught­er, a parole violation and to enforce fines levied.

• On July 16, Jason W. Knight, 30, of Junction City was arrested on charges of theft by receiving and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

• On July 16, Garland A. Key, 27, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of theft by receiving and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

• On July 17, Steven W. Slaughter, 34, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons, residentia­l burglary and theft of property.

• On July 17, Terrence B. Lewis, 31, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of failure to appear.

• On July 17, James R. Dunn, 33, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of non-support.

• On July 17, Kimberly A. Benson, 52, of El Dorado was arrested on a petition to revoke.

• On July 18, Lloyd B. Cater, 35, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of violating a protection order and a parole violation.

• On July 19, Brent W. Stevens, 31, of El Dorado was arrested on charges of failure to appear.

County Reports

• On July 13, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at the Old Union Volunteer Fire Department. The vehicle stopped at the VFD before pulling a U-turn and getting back onto the highway, where the vehicle quickly struck another vehicle. The vehicle drove onto Kelly Road; the deputy followed, observing objects being thrown from both the driver’s and passenger’s side of the vehicle. The deputy continued to follow the vehicle for a while before stopping to wait for back up. When he and additional deputies continued the chase, they located the vehicle. A woman and baby were inside. She said a man had been driving and she didn’t know why he ran. Deputies were not able to make contact with him.

• On July 14, a deputy responded to a report of domestic battery on Highway 7. A girl said her father was taking her to work when they began arguing and he took her phone. She said he slapped her with an open hand when she attempted to get her phone back. She initially reported the incident to the EPD; no marks were visible by the time the deputy spoke with her.

• On July 14, a woman reported someone stealing her wallet, which contained credit cards and cards for her children’s health care and social security. She cancelled the financial cards and planned to report the social security cards missing the following Monday.

• On July 15, a man reported his wife trying to burn down their residence. He said he was able to extinguish the fire.

• On July 15, a man reported unknown subjects staying on his property. He said he has seen vehicles parked in front and the front door sometimes open.

• On July 15, a woman reported being harassed at her job. She said the woman harassing her was banned from her job site. The second woman left the premises and returned with her son, the reporting woman said, who she also had to bar from the premises. She said the harassment has been ongoing for a week.

• On July 15, a man reported a break-in at his property on Smackover Highway. He said he didn’t know when the break-in occurred, nor did he think anything was stolen, but he knew the suspect entered through the window.

• On July 15, a woman reported her car being broken into. She said she and her husband woke up to the sound of their dog barking, so her husband went to check outside. He saw the interior lights of their vehicle turned on and saw a vehicle leaving their driveway. The driver of the other vehicle said she was just delivering their newspaper; however, they’d cancelled their subscripti­on two weeks ago. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle, though it did appear to have been rummaged through. The vehicle was not locked.

• On July 15, a deputy stopped to check on a vehicle to make sure the driver was okay. The deputy observed the driver to have glassy red eyes, trouble speaking and blood on his shirt and arm. The deputy asked the man to step out and when he did, a needle fell from his shirt. He was then arrested. The deputy discovered additional drug parapherna­lia and drugs in a search of the man’s vehicle.

• On July 15, a woman reported a domestic violence incident at her residence. She said her husband, currently living outside of the house but still on the property, had attacked her and threatened to kill her if she reported it. An officer suggested the woman stay elsewhere for a few days.

• On July 15, a man committed suicide.

• On July 15, a deputy responded to a burglary report in Strong. A woman reported entering into a rent-to-own agreement with a second woman for a house on Pigeon Hill Drive; however, she found out that the second woman had since sold the house to another party. The first woman moved out, leaving her things behind, but had continued to pay rent. When she returned for her belongings, she found a television set missing from the master bedroom.

• On July 16, a woman reported being billed for a service in Houston she did not use. The UCSO is investigat­ing the incident as a possible case of identity theft.

• On July 16, a man reported being shot at. He was hesitant to give officers at the UCSO additional details about the shooters or circumstan­ces of the attack.

• On July 16, a man reported a possible theft on Deer Camp Road. He said workers there saw someone leaving the area with a barrel rack that they knew to be missing from their work site; workers said they followed the driver and retrieved the barrel rack.

• On July 16, a woman reported a possible drunk driver. She said he stole her car keys, keeping her from her vehicle where all of her belongings and her child’s clothes were stored. A deputy found the suspect and suspected him of having been drinking. He failed the field sobriety test and was arrested.

• On July 16, a deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person on Shady Grove Road. A woman said she saw someone who previously stole from her leaving her residence. She said she wanted to file an order of protection against the woman.

• On July 17, a woman attempted suicide.

• On July 18, a deputy responded to a report of domestic battery. A woman said her dog bit her boyfriend and he was angry and began hitting her aggressive­ly. The man admitted to hitting her and was arrested.

• On July 18, a woman reported someone stealing her wallet from her vehicle.

• On July 18, a woman reported someone stealing an electric heater from her residence.

• On July 18, a woman reported a possible residentia­l burglary. She said she arrived from work to find her door busted down. She did not believe anything had been stolen or tampered with.

• On July 18, a woman reported damaged property at her daughter’s residence. She said she was housesitti­ng for her daughter and found things missing and torn up. The house was fine Monday, she said. Deputies observed the interior of the home to be torn up and items missing.

• On July 18, a man reported a burglary at a church on Hinson Road. The refrigerat­or was missing; all its contents, though, were left on the kitchen counters.

• On July 19, a deputy observed a vehicle park illegally on the highway; when he went to investigat­e the vehicle left. He pulled the vehicle over to find a woman without a driver’s license driving. He observed the vehicle to smell like marijuana and asked her to step out so he could search it. He discovered marijuana in a package for cigarillos. She was arrested.

• On July 19, deputies assisted with an eviction.

• On July 19, a woman reported property damage. She said a trailer hit the property, damaging it. The person hauling the trailer told a deputy his trailer came disconnect­ed as her drove and struck the building. The deputy informed him he would held responsibl­e.

• On July 19, a man reported stolen property. He said heavy cables, valued at $1,500-$2,000, were stolen from his work site. Deputies observed several cameras facing the area at a nearby facility. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

City Arrests

• Ruth A. Jackson, 27, of the 1600 block of Short E. Hillsboro, was arrested July 20 for second-degree battery. Jackson’s boyfriend told police that Jackson “sliced his hand” with a steak knife during an argument. Police said the man’s left hand was bleeding heavily when they arrived on the scene. He noted that Jackson’s infant son was present when the incident occurred. A police report did not indicate that the victim was seriously injured.

• Daniel T. Mathis, 43, of the 1400 block of Davis Drive, was arrested July 20 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for absconding.

• Darnaius T. Jackson, 31, of the 2400 block of Fairfield, was arrested July 18 on a Pulaski County warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and on an El Dorado Police Department warrant for enforcemen­t of fines.

• Decory T. Lowe, 33, of the 800 block of Robinson, was arrested July 18 on a warrant for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug parapherna­lia.

• Sarah E. Lepe, 36, of the 400 block of West Wesson, was arrested July 16 on a Sharp County warrant for theft of property.

• Saxton L. Freeman, 31, of the 500 block of Ondo Lane, was arrested July 16 for first-degree criminal mischief, assault on a family or household member and third-degree domestic battery. Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbanc­e at the Ondo Lane residence and upon arrival, they made contact with Freeman’s stepfather, who told them that Freeman was inside the residence “tearing up furniture.” He said Freeman also had shoved Freeman’s “mother down.” Police said they went inside the residence and saw a woman, later identified as Freeman’s mother, lying on the floor. Police noted there was broken furniture and broken glass throughout the residence. The complainan­t told police that Freeman became angry after his mother denied a request to use her vehicle. When she left the residence a short time later, Freeman grabbed the TV in the living room and slammed it to the floor the complainan­t said. He said Freeman then “went on a rampage and began destroying everything he put his hands on.” When Freeman’s mother returned, she and Freeman began arguing and Freeman struck her in the top of the head, knocking her to the floor, according to a police report.

• Quentin Bradley, 26, of the 1600 block of West Main, was arrested July 26 on a Bradley County warrant for failure to appear on charges of theft by receiving and failure to comply. Bradley was already being held in the Union County Jail on unrelated charges when he was served with the arrest warrant.

• Shaun D. Gatson, 40, of the 1500 block of E Ave., was attested July 15 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for petition to revoke probation.

City Reports

• A man told police July 19 that someone attempted to break into his vehicle. The man’s father reportedly followed the suspect and demanded that the suspect tell him why he tried to enter the vehicle. The complainan­t’s father told police the suspect pleaded with him not to tell the complainan­t about the incident. The suspect then apologized and admitted having “a weed problem,” according to a police report. The complainan­t’s father said he let the suspect go. He later reviewed surveillan­ce video and noticed that the suspect had come from his neighbor’s residence, noting the neighbor was out of town. Police said they checked the residence and found signs of “an attempted forced entry.”

• Police responded July 19 to a report of a burglary at the South Arkansas Community College Independen­t Living Lab, 421 W. Wesson, and stole a TV. An employee said the burglary was captured on surveillan­ce video. A burglary was also reported at the facility July 15. A video game system and six video games were reported stolen at the time.

• A man reported July 19 the theft of a chop saw, skill saw and air compressor from the bed of his pickup truck at his residence in the 900 block of West Cedar.

• A woman told police July 18 that her ex-boyfriend issued terroristi­c threats against her, via text messages. She said the threats and harassment have been ongoing for more than a year.

• On July 18, a green, 2016 Ford F-150 Lariat was reported stolen from Teague Ford, 1730 W. Hillsboro.

• A man told officers July 16 that his wallet was missing, adding that he inadverten­tly left it on the checkout counter at Game Stop, 2600 N. West Ave. The man said the wallet contained $20 cash and a gift card. He said he returned to the store after realizing he had left the wallet there but he could not find the it. He also said no one had turned the wallet in to employees.

• A man told police July 15 that a man he knew threatened him with a handgun during an argument in the parking lot of Home Depot, 507 West 19th. The complainan­t said the suspect pulled alongside his vehicle and an argument ensued. He admitted exiting his vehicle, approachin­g the suspect’s vehicle and telling the suspect “to get out of the truck and talk like a real man.” He said the suspect then retrieved a handgun and told him to “come closer.” The complainan­t said he then began yelling loudly to draw attention and the suspect drove away.

• A man reported July 15 that someone entered his vehicle at Game Stop, 2600 N. West Ave., and stole his cellphone. He noted that his vehicle was not locked when the theft occurred.

• A woman told police July 15 that someone entered her vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of West Main and stole her cellphone. She said the theft occurred July 12, adding that her vehicle was not locked at the time.

• On July 15, a woman reported that her wallet — which contained debit cards, credit cards, a driver’s license and Social Security card — was missing from her residence in the 500 block of Ondo Lane.

• A woman told police July 14 that someone broke into her residence in the 200 block of Hargett Drive and stole two video game systems and $50 cash.

• Police were called July 14 to a residence in the 500 block of East Elm in reference to a burglary. A woman said a window air conditione­r and a weed eater had been stolen.
