Let's fix the streets first

-

Why is El Dorado spending money on feasibility studies for walking trails and bike lanes when we have so many issues in the city?

Why can’t that money be spent on things that will make things safer in the city? Such as making a better barrier between the sidewalk and the creek that runs under West Hillsboro near Fred’s? I am terrified that a child will fall the 10 ft into the creek and get seriously hurt.

What about fixing the walkway bridge that goes across a creek on Champagnolle? It has fallen into the creek and is currently caution taped off. Fix our sidewalks so people can walk without tripping over uneven sidewalks or walk in the streets to avoid over hanging tree branches and brush?

What about building semi-enclosed bus stops for the 50 or so kids that wait for the bus from the Haygood-Neal housing complex at the corner of Hayes St and West Hillsboro and other housing complexes in the city? I watch those kids deal with rain and cold winds every school year while waiting for the bus. Why not fix the streets in this town?

I have lived in this town for over 50 years and I don’t remember them ever being this bad. Why do we resurface a street just to have the water company come dig it up a few weeks later? I have noticed several sink holes in streets around town as well.

If we want to bring people to this city to entertain them then let’s do something to make them want to stay and become a part of our community!
