El Dorado police are investigating the theft of more than $3,300 worth of items that were reported stolen, allegedly by a group of juveniles, early Sunday morning from a local department store.

An employee of Walmart Supercenter, 2730 N. West Ave. told police that four black males were captured on surveillance video forcing their way into a display behind a counter in the electronics department and stealing several items.

The complainant said the incident occurred at 3:44 a.m., noting that one of the males took items from the electronics display and handed them to two of the males, while the fourth male appeared to serve as a lookout.

Reported stolen were six Apple watches, an Apple watch band and three Apple iPads, with a total value of $3,347.38.

The complainant said he later saw social media posts in which the suspects appeared to have placed the items for sale online and made statements indicating that the items were

taken from Walmart.

One of the posters was positively identified, according to a police report.

Another potential suspect was identified after a 17-year-old boy was arrested for violation of the city’s juvenile curfew ordinance, police said.

Officers said they spotted the boy inside Walmart just before 3 a.m. Monday, noting that employees had seen the boy in the electronics department earlier with two other males.

Employees also said the boy was wearing clothing that was similar to one of the shoplifting suspects.

The boy was arrested for his second violation of the juvenile curfew and his mother was also cited for a first violation of the ordinance.

• Aggravated assault: A 15-year-old boy who was accused of brandishing a gun at Walmart employees while in the store July 26 allegedly threatened a woman with a gun the following night.

A woman told officers July 27 that the teen threatened her with a pistol at Go Rainbow Food Mart, 2110 Junction City Road.

The woman said the boy may have been upset because of a previous argument between him and her brother.

She said the boy approached her, began cursing at her, reached into his sock and pulled out what looked to be semi-automatic handgun.

The woman said she then got into her vehicle and attempted to leave but the boy stood behind the vehicle and continued pointing the gun at her and threatening to shoot her.

The boy’s mother reportedly intervened and told him to allow the complainant to leave.

The woman said she then drove home and called police.

The boy was identified by witnesses July 26 after he allegedly brandished a gun at Walmart Supercenter.

The boy reportedly became angry after an employee suspected that he and another boy were attempting to shoplift BB gun pellets.

Witnesses said the boy left the store and returned a short time later with a gun, demanding to see the employee who had confronted him earlier.
