Back to School bash to be held at Mattocks Park
The SHARE Foundation’s drug prevention arm, eXtreme Youth Programs, will host a back-toschool bash today at Mattocks Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mayor Veronica Smith-Creer will be in attendance, and area students will have free school supplies available to them if needed. The bash will also include live performances from local talent and food.
El Dorado Service League hosting Pancakes in Pajamas set for September
El Dorado Service League will host Pancakes in Pajamas with Princesses & Pirates on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8-11 a.m. at College Avenue Church of Christ Family Life Center.
Cost per person is $2. Minors must be accompanied with an adult. The enchanted breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk, and pancake topping bar. Proceeds from the kid-focused event will go to El Dorado Service League and their mission of helping underprivileged children in Union County.
Kids are encouraged to wear pirate or princess costume or pajamas. Greeting them will be local pirates and Princesses Elsa, Tiana, Belle and more. Featured attractions include bouncy house, temporary tattoo parlor, princess salon, craft corner with tiaras and pirate hats, character photos, games and more.
“El Dorado Service League is very excited to bring this event to the community for the first time,” Event Chair, Jessica Peck said. “We look forward to a magical morning full of fun and entertainment for children of all ages.”
Event attendees are encouraged to bring diapers and wipes as a donation for the Family Connects Program of Union County. El Dorado Service League, a nonprofit organization, provides assistance to the children of Union County by meeting unserved medical, educational, charitable, religious and other needs. Working hand-in-hand with school counselors, social workers and other professionals to identify specific needs, the group provides volunteer services and donates goods directly to families in need.
El Dorado Service League also provides targeted, one-time endowments to charitable organizations with a demonstrated need. All Service League members participate through the contribution of volunteer hours and the coordination of fundraising efforts.
