City Arrests

• Jaquez Whatley, 20, of the 1500 block of Martin Luther King, was arrested Aug. 9 on a warrant for parole violation and fleeing on foot.

• Garry L. Ford, 50, of the 100 block of Hargett Drive, was arrested Aug. 9 on a Union County Sheriff’s Office warrant for child support enforcemen­t.

• Darris L. McHenry, 39, of the 1100 block of Ouachita, was arrested Aug. 9 on an Arkansas Parole Board warrant for absconding.

• Police reported Aug. 8 that two teenage boys, one from El Dorado and the other from Magnolia, were found at a residence in the 800 block of East Pecan after having been reported missing from a juvenile detention facility in Monticello. Police said they confirmed that the boys, ages 16 and 15, had escaped from the facility and come to older boy’s residence in El Dorado. The boys were transporte­d to a juvenile detention center in Garland County, according to a police report.

• Kenbrianna I. Clay, 27, of the 500 block of South West Avenue, and Tyrone A. Jackson, 51, of the 700 block of South West Avenue, were arrested Aug. 7 for aggravated assault on a family or household member and third-degree domestic battery, second offense, respective­ly. Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbanc­e in the 1600 block of Short East Hillsboro. Jackson told police that Clay, his ex-wife, choked him and struck him with her vehicle during an argument. Witnesses reported seeing Clay “wrap her arm around” Jackson’s neck and drag “him around,” noting that Jackson did not defend himself. Witnesses also said they saw Clay strike Jackson with her vehicle. Clay told officers that Jackson struck her in the face and broke her fingernail­s. Officers noted that Clay had a mark on the left side of her face. Jackson was later arrested on a warrant for parole violation.

• Benjamin B. Turner Jr., 24, of the 300 block of West First, was arrested Aug. 5 on a Texas warrant for evading arrest using a motor vehicle.

• Victor B. Gaither, 29, of the 2800 block of Strong Highway, was arrested Aug. 4 for possession of methamphet­amine and obstructio­n of government­al operations. While on routine patrol in the 500 block of South Madison, officers made contact with Gaither who was looking in the bed of a pickup truck and the yard of a residence in the area, according to a police report. Police noted that Gaither had a flashlight, an article of clothing wrapped around his head and a headlamp around his neck. He told officers that he was looking for $10 cash that he had lost. Police said Gaither did not comply with commands to provide his name and after he was taken into custody, police said they found crystal methamphet­amine inside a fanny pack on the ground where Gaither was arrested. Officers noted Gaither was not wearing the fanny pack when he was taken into custody but a review of police body cam footage showed that he had been wearing the fanny pack just prior to his arrest. Police said they spoke with a resident at the house who said he did not know Gaither.

• Azariann L.T. Wade, 21 of the 1100 block of East Barnes, was arrested Aug. 4 on a UCSO warrant for first-degree terroristi­c threatenin­g.

• Brian D. Talley, 33, of the 1200 block of East Sixth, was arrested Aug. 3 for first-degree terroristi­c threatenin­g, third-degree aggravated assault on a family or household member and violation of a protection order. Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbanc­e in the 100 block of Hammond and Talley’s wife told officers he became angry when she questioned him about bringing multiple people into the house. She said that when she called 911, Talley issued a terroristi­c threat against her. The complainan­t said she ran from the residence and Talley briefly chased her before leaving the scene in his vehicle. Police said Talley returned to the Hammond Street residence a short time later and he was taken into custody.

City Reports

• Police received informatio­n Aug. 9 that three counterfei­t $100 bills were found in the parking lot of Walmart Supercente­r, 2730 N. West Ave.

• Officers responded Aug. 9 to a report of someone knocking on the door and windows of a residence the 1100 block of West Fifth. One of the complainan­ts also told officers that a male he knew issued a terroristi­c threat against him, via a voicemail.

• A woman told police Aug. 8 that her boyfriend attacked her during an argument at her residence in the 1600 block of Short East Hillsboro. She said the threatened her with a knife and grabbed her by the throat and squeezed until “it hurt.” The complainan­t said he took her phone and threw the phone and other items at her. She said the phone struck her in the stomach, telling police that she was pregnant and felt pain after the phone struck her. The suspect also punched two holes in the wall, the victim said. The woman told police that she was trying to get ready for work during the incident and she called a friend to pick her up. She said the suspect blocked her path as she tried to leave the

residence. She said he shoved her in the chest and at one point, he “grabbed her face very roughly and wouldn’t let go, causing her pain.” The woman said she threw a DVD player at the suspect to “try and get him away from her.” The woman said her friend arrived and as the pair headed toward her friend’s vehicle, the suspect followed and prevented the victim from getting inside the vehicle. The woman’s friend told police that she intervened and shoved the suspect backward, creating enough space for the victim to get inside the vehicle. The suspect then grabbed the door and hyperexten­ded it, causing a “cracking sound,” according to a police report. The women said the suspect kicked the passenger’s door of the vehicle as they drove away. The owner of the vehicle said there was a dent in the door. The victim told officers that she would seek medical treatment. Police said they later returned to the Short East Hillsboro residence after receiving informatio­n that the suspect may possibly be in the area and they discovered that the door to the residence had been kicked in. No items were reported missing.

• A man told officers Aug. 8 that someone

broke into his vehicle at his residence in the 1200 block of West Main and stole a firearm.

• On Aug. 7, a woman told officers that a woman she knew issued a terroristi­c threat against her.

• An 80-foot roll of chainlink fencing was reported stolen Aug. 7 from First Christian Church, 420 N. Madison.

• A woman told police Aug. 7 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 900 block of East Cedar. No items were reported missing.

• A man reported Aug. 7 the theft of copper wire,

drill bits, pry bars, lathe machine accessorie­s and an antique welder from a vacant workshop in the 1400 block of Emmett.

• On Aug. 6, a man told police that someone entered his vehicle at his residence in the 700 block of West 19th. No items were reported missing. The complainan­t said the incident was captured on surveillan­ce video and a potential suspect was identified.

• A Medina, Ohio, woman reported Aug. 6 that someone entered her vehicle at Alma Apartments, 301 Cordell, and stole $8 change, soft drinks and a case of sports drinks.

• A man told police Aug. 5 that someone broke into his vehicle at his residence in the 500 block of Ondo Lane and stole a pistol.

• On Aug. 5, a man told police that a man he knew fraudulent­ly used his identity to change the name on an account with Entergy.

• The owner of Betty’s Old Fashion, 1334 E. Hillsboro, reported Aug. 5 two recent incidents in which customers attempted to pass counterfei­t money at the business. He said a man attempted to use a fake $100 bill and several weeks prior, a woman tried to use a counterfei­t $20 bill to make purchases. He said employees informed the male the bill was fake and refused to give it to him when he asked them to return it. The complainan­t said the woman was unaware the $20 bill was fake and used other means to pay for her purchase.

• A woman reported Aug. 4 that someone broke into her vehicle at her residence in the 300 block of West First and stole loose change and her purse, which contained $100 cash, two prepaid debit cards, a government-issued debit card, two movie tickets, a driver’s license, insurance cards and Social Security cards.

• Police responded Aug. 4 to a report of breaking or entering at a residence in the 500 block of Copper Drive. A man said someone broke into three vehicles at the residence. No items were reported missing.
