Reminder of Services CAROL I. JONES-HEMBREE
Services for Carol Irene Jones Hembree will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at Scotland Presbyterian Church in Junction City, with a visitation held the hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Old Parker's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Obituaries JENCY M. COOK
Jency Mathis Cook passed into her Savior’s arms on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, just a few weeks before her 102nd birthday. She was born on October 1, 1917, to Jennie D Webb Mathis and
Otto Mathis in Forrest City,
Arkansas. She was married to Alvin Carlyle Cook in 1941, for 50 years, until his death in 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Olive Lee
Warram, and a daughter,
Martha Cook.
Hers was a beautiful life, well-lived, grounded in deep faith. She grew up in south
Arkansas during the oil boom years and moved with Alvin to Shreveport after World War II to start a family. In 1977 they moved to Houston where she lived the rest of her life. She loved to travel and was a talented artist, with a beautiful voice, and was interested in everything, dearly loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by a daughter, Jency Cook D’Armond and husband, Don of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mimi D’Armond McClain (Brooks), of Katy, Texas, and Drew D’Armond (Whitney) of Austin, Texas. Her five great-grandchildren are Mark McClain, Jack McClain, Mia Catherine McClain, Asa D’Armond and Finn D’Armond.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Arlington Memorial Park with Rev. David Ruehr, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will the family will be held from 9:00 a.m. at Young's Funeral Directors until service time.
