City Arrests
• Leslie M. Craig, 31, of the 3000 block of North West Avenue, was arrested Sept. 13 for first-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a Schedule II narcotic and violation of a No-Contact Order. Lee R. Williams Jr., 55, of the 500 block of Pelham, was also arrested Sept. 13 for violation of a No-Contact Order. Police responded to Econolodge, 1920 Junction City Road, in reference to an altercation and a threat involving an employee. Upon arrival, they made contact with Craig and Williams, whose shirt was torn. Both were taken into custody after officers learned they had active No-Contact Orders against each other. An employee told officers that Craig and Williams fought in the parking lot after they attempted to rent a room. Craig did not like the room that was offered to her and she walked away, returning a short time later with Williams to rent another room, the complainant said. She said the pair began arguing again and walked outside, where Craig began striking Williams. The employee said Craig then produced a knife and waved it in the air while screaming. The employee said she told Williams and Craig that police had been called and as she locked the door, Craig yelled at her to “mind her business” and issued a terroristic threat against her. During a search at the Union County Jail, jail personnel found a pill bottle that belonged to Craig. They said the bottle contained four hydrocodone pills but the pills were not prescribed to Craig.
• Michael A. Crawford, 20, of the 500 block of South Madison, was arrested Sept. 10 for breaking or entering, first-degree criminal mischief and criminal trespass. Crawford is accused of breaking into a soft drink vending machine at the Delek Control Center,309 N. Washington, and damaging the lock on a private gate as he was leaving the facility. An employee told police the incident, which occurred just after 1 a.m., was captured on surveillance video and he provided a description of the suspect. Moments later, police spotted a man, later identified as Crawford, walking south on Washington, noting that he matched the description that was provided by the complainant. Crawford told officers that the vending machine was already open and he did not take anything from it.
• Rickey J.K. Campbell, 18, of the 900 block of West Cook, was arrested Sept. 9 for breaking or entering. Police reported hearing a vehicle alarm while on routine patrol in the 300 block of North Jefferson. Witnesses reported seeing a male attempting to break into several vehicles in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Washington and when the victims activated their vehicle alarms, the suspect ran east. While circulating the area, police said they saw a male, later identified as Campbell, “emerge from the shadows” in the area of Madison and Faulkner and he began running east. They said Campbell matched the description provided by witnesses. Police said Campbell was not wearing a gray hoodie as described by witnesses but the rest of his clothing fit the suspect information that was provided. Police said they apprehended Campbell and a witness positively identified him as the suspect. • A 16-year-old boy was arrested Sept. 11 for theft of property. The boy’s mother reported that a handgun was stolen from her residence in the 500 block of Bruster and she said she suspected the boy of taking the gun. Investigators said they interviewed the boy two days later and he admitted taking the gun. He was released on a citation to appear in Union County Juvenile Court.
• Ronald G. Lowery, 60, of Texarkana, was arrested Sept. 7 for possession of drug paraphernalia. Police responded at 10:17 a.m. to a report of an unwanted person at Brookshire’s, 220 S. West Ave. Police said they made contact with Lowery, who was sitting inside his vehicle. Lowery consented to a search of the vehicle and inside the glove compartment, police said they found a metal spoon with methamphetamine and a syringe.
• Gregory C. Slade, 27, of the 1100 block of North Gray, was arrested Sept. 6 for attempted residential burglary and criminal trespassing. An officer who was working off-duty security detail at Haygood Neal Garden Apartments, 1315 E. First, reported hearing a group of residents shouting at Slade. The officer said he separated Slade from the group and a witness said Slade had tried to break into a vacant apartment in an “attempt to make contact with his girlfriend”, who lived in another apartment. The witness said Slade was force open the door and several residents began chasing him. Police said the witness advised Slade to leave, citing a no trespassing policy at the apartment complex. The officer said he escorted Slade off the property and told him not to return. A short time later, the officer said he saw Slade running across the parking lot toward the apartment building in which his girlfriend lives. A large crowd then ran toward the building and an altercation ensued with Slade. A witness said Slade attempted to kick in the door of his girlfriend’s apartment. Slade was then taken into custody, police said. Police said they received information that Slade may have been involved in an altercation with his girlfriend earlier in the day.
