Tennis tournament­s to start today

The Arkansas Activities Associatio­n released the bracket for the state tennis tournament­s, which will be held Monday and Tuesday at various locations.

The 5A State Tournament will be held at the Hot Springs Country Club. El Dorado’s Emma Thomas will take on Greenwood’s Abigail Woodring in girls singles. The Lady Wildcats’ duo of Jessica Carroll and Kendal Bonsall will meet Siloam Springs’ Olha Los and Eve Slater.

The 3A State Tournament will be held at Burns Park in Little Rock. Smackover’s Mackenzie Preston will face Tori Noblitt of Cave City in girls’ singles. The Lady Bucks’ doubles team of Reese McKinnon and Paige Goodwin will play Brianna Phillips and Barbara Phillips of LISA.

The 2A State Tournament will be hosted by Riverside High School in Jonesboro. Parkers Chapel’s Kenlee McAuliffe and Ali Looney, the defending state girls’ doubles champions, will open up against Marked Tree’s Brooklyn Blancett and Shelby Tacker. PC’s Drue Thomas and Macie Wood will battle Kamren Johnson and Alisa Allen of West Side Greers Ferry. The Lady Trojans’ Rebekah Hardy will meet Lacey Dunn of Crowley’s Ridge and Molly Housdan has a date with Graysen Berry of Shirley.

In 2A boys, PC’s Payne Williams will play Noah Stracener of Ridgefield Christian. Heath Bates goes up against Jude Stewart of Crowley’s Ridge. The Trojans’ doubles team of Korbin McAuliffe and Spencer Frisby takes on Ethan Boatman and Grant Smith of Riverside. Jordan Arrington and Austin Looney will play Rick Reeves and Adam Hoyle of Mulberry.
