"The Territorial Arkansas: The Wild Western Frontier" traveling exhibit will be on display, with free public admission, in the South Arkansas Community College Library Atrium today through Feb. 12 during regular library hours. Made available by the Arkansas State Archives, the traveling exhibit "tells the story of our region before statehood, and provides a vivid glimpse into what life was like in Arkansas more than 100 years ago," according to library director Philip Shackelford.

Initially Arkansas Territory included what is now Oklahoma, but through changes in boundary lines and the relocation of indigenous people further and further west, the territory's land was reduced to its present size in 1828. After 17 years as a territory, Arkansas was admitted to the Union as the 25th state on June 15, 1836.

SouthArk Library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 300 Summit Street in El Dorado.
