Louisiana Tech's basketball teams return to action tonight.
RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky will meet on the hardwood for the 47th time in series history when the Lady Techsters host the Lady Toppers tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series 26-20 although Western Kentucky has won seven straight meetings with the Lady Techsters last victory coming during the 2010-11 season.
The 46 meetings against Western Kentucky is the second most of any Louisiana Tech opponent in Lady Techster history with only the 55 against Louisiana-Monroe surpassing it.
Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech were long-time rivals in the American South and Sun Belt Conferences in the 1980s and 1990s when the two programs were annually competing for the league crown and appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
This year’s version of the Lady Toppers (14-6, 6-3 C-USA) features a trio of top-notch scorers in forward Raneem Elgedawy (17.5 ppg, 10.5 rpg), guard Dee Givens (16.5 ppg, 43-146 3-pointers) and guard Whitney Creech (14.1 ppg, 88 assists).
Western Kentucky has won four straight games and six of its last seven contests after staring C-USA with a pair of road losses at North Texas and Rice.
Louisiana Tech (10-10, 2-7 C-USA) has dropped three straight games following an impressive 18-point win over Middle Tennessee on Jan. 23. The guard tandem of Keiunna Walker (12.4 ppg, 35 steals) and Amber Dixon (11.4 ppg, 36 steals) leads the Lady Techsters offensively.
Louisiana Tech is 9-3 at the Thomas Assembly Center this season.
