Smackover’s Pyron signs with Missouri S&T

It would seem that in the case of Smackover's Trevor Pyron, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Pyron, who signed to play football at Missouri University of Science & Technology, has a passion for engineering that has been passed down through the generations.

“I've always had a passion for just creating stuff and doing something that no one else has thought of,” Pyron said.

“My dad and his dad have been in it, so it's just one of those things.”

And it was the engineering program at Missouri S&T that helped sway Pyron in his choice.

“It's just the education in general,” Pyron said. “I have a passion for engineering, and they have one of the best engineering programs around.”

When asked what he would like to do after he finishes college, Pyron said he wanted to be in charge of his own firm.

“I want to end up one day owning an engineering firm of some sort,” Pyron said.

As a two-way standout, Pyron played a pivotal role in Smackover's success, but it will be at linebacker where he will ply his trade in college.

Pyron said he is expecting to be redshirted this upcoming season.

“Right now, they're saying I'm too small,” Pyron said. If there is one area that Pyron wants to work on before starting his college career, it's speed.

“Speed is something that I kind of struggle with right now. I want to work on that,” Pyron said. “I just want to become an all-around better player.”

Pyron is presently preparing for his first weightlifting meet, and he has a couple of goals he wants to reach.

“Before the time state comes around, which is April 25th, I want to clean 275 and bench 290, at least,” Pyron said.

Although graduation is still a couple of months away, Pyron said he was happy to be a part of Smackover's program.

“I think it's gone as good as God's plan, I guess,” Pyron said. “I'm blessed to be a part of a good program like Smackover has.”

And now he will get the chance to play at the next level.

“I'm just thankful that God has put me in this place, and I have an opportunity to keep playing. My career is not over,” Pyron said.
