EHS track teams compete at Texarkana

TEXARKANA – Freshman DeAndra Burns made a splash Thursday in varsity track and led El Dorado to a second place showing at the Doc Walker Relays, hosted by Arkansas High School. The Wildcats scored 116 points to place behind Texarkana (129.5) and ahead of Magnolia (102), Ashdown (62.5), Pine Bluff (56), Hope (52.5) and several other schools.

Burns won the 200 in a time of 22.20 and the 400 with a time of 51.00. He also anchored the first place 4x100 and the first place 4x400. The 4x100 included Devunte Kidd, Neeko Davis and P.J. Dinkins with Will Artis, Calvin Huang and Davis joining Burns on the 4x400.

El Dorado’s girls finished third, scoring 110.33 points. Texarkana won the girls’ title with 167.33 followed by Magnolia (130).

In the boys, Kidd finished second in both the 100 and 200. Steven Tollette was second in the long jump and sixth in the high jump. Carmerius Rucks was third in the shot. Huang and Dylan Avant placed third and fifth, respective­ly, in the 800. Devonte Yarbrough was fourth in the long jump. Dinkins was fifth in the 200. Alvin Gonzalez was fourth in the 3,200. Eloy Rodriguez was fifth in the 1,600. Artis finished sixth in the 400.

Artis, Avant, Huang and Hill took third in the 4x800.

The Lady Wildcats were strong in the field events. Jordan Smith won the long jump, leaping 16-6.

Carshaila Rozier took first in the high jump, clearing 5-4. Breyonna Steward was second in the triple jump and fourth in the 400. LaDiamond Maker was second in the high jump and third in the long jump.

Tajah Edmondson was fourth in the triple jump. Erica Moore was fourth in the discus.

Anastasia Brock finished second in the 200. Cha'Kayla Durden was third in the 100 hurdles. Talia Holmes was third in the 300 hurdles.

Priya Dod was sixth in the 1,600. Edmondson, Brock, Holmes and Maker finished second in the 4x100. Jariyah Brewster, Holmes, Smith and Steward took second in the 4x400.

El Dorado will compete in the Wolves Relays at

Prescott next Thursday.
