Lady Bucks pick up trio of victories

ASHDOWN - It’s been quite the weekend for Smackover’s Karli Goocher.

On Friday, the senior hit a walk-off home run to lift the Lady Bucks to an 11-9 win over DeQueen.

On Saturday, Goocher homered again, connecting on a two-run shot, as Smackover cruised to a 12-2 win over Texarkana before dispatchin­g Dierks 14-0 at the Ashdown Tournament.

The Lady Bucks (5-0) took on Ashdown in the championsh­ip game late Saturday night.

On Friday, the Lady Bucks overcame a 9-3 deficit by scoring six runs in the sixth, taking advantage of six walks and a hit batsman to tie the game with Malorie Pullin driving in a run with a sacrifice fly and Mackenzie Preston delivering a twoout single to score another run.

In the seventh, Lydia Pullin doubled with one out to set up Goocher’s walk-off two-run blast.

Pullin went 2-for-4 with Malorie Pullin adding a double for the Lady Bucks, who had five hits.

Pullin went the distance in the circle, finishing with a six-hitter. She walked four, hit three batters and struck out nine.

And while there was plenty of drama for Smackover on Friday, there was very little in their two wins on Saturday.

Against Texarkana, the Lady Bucks jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to

winning.

Lydia Pullin opened the scoring in the first with a steal of home on a throw to second on Preston's steal after she had walked.

The Lady Bucks broke the game open in the second with Vanessa Lofton driving in a pair of runs with a double and Pullin drilling an RBI double before Goocher capped the frame with her second two-run homer in as many days.

Gabbi Kelly, who went 2-for-3, drove in two of her four runs with a two-run single in the fifth.

Smackover finished their scoring in the sixth with Karis Robinson and Lofton lacing run-scoring singles before Kelly capped her big game with a two-run single.

Lofton went 3-for-4 with three RBIs with Malorie

Pullin also going 3-for-4 in the contest.

Robinson was 2-for-3, while Goocher went 2-for-4 and Lydia Pullin finished 2-for-3 for Smackover, who banged out 16 hits in the win.

Robinson picked up the win in the circle, tossing a three-hitter.

She struck out eight, walked three and hit a batter. The Lady Bucks delivered an early knockout blow against Dierks, scoring 12 runs in the opening inning, registerin­g 10 hits in the frame.

Pullin, Malorie Pullin, Robinson and Lindy Bates all had two hits in the first with Bates driving in four of Smackover's 12 runs.

Pullin had two RBIs with Robinson driving in one run in the frame.

Robinson, who went 3-for-3, added an RBI single in the third, and Bates drove in a run with a ground out to finish with five RBIs in the win.

Lydia Pullin was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Malorie Pullin finished 2-for-3 and Goocher went 2-for4 with a double.

Preston had a double in the third inning.

Pullin fired a one-hit shutout to pick up the win. She walked five and fanned 10.

After finishing play on Saturday, Smackover jumps into 7-3A play on Monday at Fouke before hosting Ashdown on Tuesday.
