Union County’s number of COVID-19 cases increased by only one between Monday and Tuesday; the county currently has 62 total confirmed cases, 30 of which are currently active.

Recoveries also stayed steady, increasing by one for a total of 32. Four tests were performed between Monday and Tuesday; in all 351 people have been tested in Union County, with 289 tests having returned negative. No deaths attributable to COVID-19 have been reported locally.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson reported 83 deaths resulting from COVID-19 in the state. At least five of those have been inmates from the Cummins Unit prison in Lincoln County, according to the Associated Press.

In all, Arkansas has 3,496 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 2,050 of those

have recovered, so 1,363 of those are active. The United States reached over 1.2 million cases Tuesday; of those, there have been over 70,000 deaths attributable to the novel coronavirus, while almost 190,000 have recovered.

Hutchinson announced yesterday that the state will roll back some of its travel restrictions, but placed additional guidelines on those travelers from COVID-19 ‘hotspots.’ Travelers from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and New Orleans, Louisiana must self-quarantine for 14 days, he said.

He also announced that he has extended the State of Emergency originally implemented in Arkansas on March 11 and scheduled to end May 21; it will now extend through July 4 weekend. He noted that the state is not out of the woods yet, and urged residents to continue observing social distancing guidelines and business restrictions.

Today, barbershops, hair salons, tattoo parlors and massage spas will be allowed to reopen with social distancing restrictions in place. On Monday, restaurants will be able to re-allow dine-in service at limited capacity.
