Traditional classes scheduled for fall
Special to the News-Times Students are scheduled to be back in classrooms on the campuses of South Arkansas Community College in the coming fall semester, per SouthArk leadership.
“As we continue to monitor guidance from local, state, and federal agencies, it is the appropriate time to plan for a full return to campus for our in-person classes in August,” SouthArk president Dr. Bentley Wallace said. “Of course, we will continue to monitor the situation daily and react as necessary as the situation requires.”
College facilities have not been open to students since March as SouthArk made the decision to enact pandemic-related social-distancing measures. All course delivery and student services since that time have been online or via telephone.
Though particular aspects of the college’s reopening still are in discussion, the fall schedule recently was released and features traditional inclass learning along with Internet-based distance learning, as usual. Registration both for summer classes, which all will be online, and for fall now is open. Additional information about admission and registration can be received at southark.edu/ info.
Students have been registering for the fall semester already, but Wallace said that it is important to reassure them and the public at large that this
fall, the plan is to have the campus open, accessible, full of life—and, especially, safe.
“To prepare for our students’ return to our campuses, all departments of the college are engaged in creating action and contingency plans to deliver courses and student services in a safe environment for everyone,” he said. “The well-being of our faculty, staff and students is SouthArk’s highest priority.”
