The El Dorado Oilers' offense has been outstanding early on this season, but the pitching over their first two games in Junction City has also been superb.

A day after three pitchers combined to strike out 13 batters, Jacob Eubanks turned in not only a dominant performance, but an efficient one, needing just 67 pitches to strike out 10 as part of a two-hit shutout in the Oilers' 8-0 win over the Ashley County Timber Rattlers Friday at Junction City.

Eubanks, who walked one, picked up his first win of the season.

He also helped himself at the plate by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

The Oilers (3-1) pulled away methodically before ending the game via mercy rule with three runs in the sixth.

John Robert Burson was hit by a pitch to start the sixth and stole second base.

After Josh Saulsbury walked to put runners at first and second, Tanner McLelland delivered a base hit to right that scored Burson.

Baylor Brumley then delivered an RBI single of his own that scored Saulsbury to make it 7-0, and Eubanks put the exclamation point on his big evening by ending the game with a run-scoring single to left.

The Oilers gave Eubanks all of the run support he would need with a run in the second.

Tyler Johnson led off with a double off the left-field fence and Rhett Richardson followed with a single to left-center to bring home Johnson with the first run of the game.

The Oilers added to their lead with a run in the third.

Saulsbury led off with a base hit to center and he advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by McLelland.

Saulsbury then stole third and scored on a single to left by Eubanks to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.

The Oilers extended their lead with a pair of runs in the fourth.

With one out, Richardson reached as the result of a dropped third strike, and Chase Brumley followed with a triple off the fence in center to score Richardson to give the Oilers a 3-0 edge.

Gabe Richard then singled to left to score Brumley to make it 4-0.

The Oilers tacked on a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Braden Doherty that scored McLelland, who walked and moved into scoring position on a single by Baylor Brumley.

McLelland was 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, one run scored and one RBI, while Johnson went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and one run scored for the Oilers.

Saulsbury was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base, and Richardson was 1-for-3 with a stolen base, one run scored and an RBI in the win.

Chase Brumley was 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and one run scored with Richard finishing 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, a walk and an RBI in the contest.

Doherty was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI, Baylor Brumley was 1-for-4 with a stolen base, a run and an RBI, and Burson had a walk and scored a run.
