Homegrown: This week’s Farmers Market

- By Caitlan Butler Managing Editor

Local farmers and artisans are gathering again this week to share their craft with the community at the Murphy Arts District Farmers Market.

This week, the MAD Farmers Market is featuring P&L Farms and Honey Rock Handcrafts.

P&L Farms, based in the areas of Junction City, Ark. and Spearsville, La., is a family farm owned by the Hamakers. They specialize in produce and cattle.

Honey Rock Hand Craft, out of Louisiana, will feature rocking chairs and other woodworks at this week’s market. According to their Facebook page, the artisans behind Honey Rock use century-old sunken Cypress wood straight from the swamps of Louisiana in their bespoke crafts, giving each piece its own story.

The MAD Farmers Market is held on the covered walkway between the MAD Amphitheater and Playscape, at 105 E. Locust. Shoppers will be required to follow some guidelines to protect themselves, vendors and other customers against COVID-19, including:No dogs

• Face masks required

• No groups or lingering

• Social distancing of six feet between oneself and others required

• No outside bags or handling produce before purchase

• Sanitize one’s hands after purchases

• Exit at the stage side of the market

MAD also recommends paying with a credit or debit card or using exact change if paying with cash. Traffic flow and social distance markers are provided on the ground, and vendors will serve only one shopper at a time.

The MAD Farmers Market will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. today.
