LANXESS donates cleanser to schools

-

Specialty chemicals company LANXESS donated a supply of its highly effective disinfectant Rely+On Virkon to the El Dorado School District Monday. The powder disinfectant, which is effective against the novel coronavirus, is diluted with water and can be sprayed on hard surfaces and equipment to reduce the risk of contamination.

LANXESS operates three facilities in El Dorado –the West, South and Central Plants –through the company’s Polymer Additives Business Unit. The Rely+On Virkon disinfectant is manufactured and distributed through the Material Protection Products business unit, part of the company’s new Consumer Protection segment aimed at consumer protection products.

“Like so many communities around the world, El Dorado has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but is cautiously

planning to resume some activities – like next school year,” said Steffan Kahlert, LANXESS site manager in El Dorado. “We are hopeful that this donation helps to safely resume school in the fall, while protecting the students, faculty, staff and families of the El Dorado School District.”

The donation provided the school district with enough disinfectant to sanitize more than 1 million square feet across the district’s eight campuses, which include Barton Junior High, El Dorado High School, Hugh Goodwin Elementary, the Murmil Heights Campus, Northwest Elementary School, the Retta Brown Campus, Washington Middle School and Yocum Elementary School.

“We arevery appreciative for LANXESS and their donation of Rely+On Virkon Disinfectant–their continued support of our district and community is a valuable asset,” said Jim Tucker, Superintendent of the El Dorado School District. “This donation will be used across our district to provide proper disinfecting of classrooms, bus seats and playground equipment throughout the school year. This donation will play a key role in allowing us to help keep our students safe for the upcoming school year.”

Since widespread outbreaks of the novel coronavirus began in February, LANXESS has made several donations to institutions in 13countries, including hospitals in Wuhan, China. The product has also been donated to hospitals in Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, Poland, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil and Mexico.
