Nannie B. (Nan) Owens, of Junction City, Arkansas (Hopewell Community) passed away July 11, 2020 at age of 90. Born at home on November 29, 1929, she was the third child of Jesse

Green Owens and Clyde

Graves Owens.

Nan acquired her Master’s degree in English from the

University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le, AR, and taught English in several high schools in Arkansas.

Additional­ly, she received her Master’s degree in

Theology from Southern

Baptist Seminary in Fort

Worth, TX, and served as Minister of Education at Second Baptist Church in El Dorado, for several tears. Prior to that she served with the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) in Nashville, TN, and in Little Rock, AR.

When her mother became ill in 1988, Nan returned to the old home place to help serve as a caregiver for her. After her death, Nan retired from teaching and began working with local churches to teach and instruct in serving The Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Oral J. Owens and his wife, Era Joyce; a sister, Lucille Helm and her husband, Ji,; a sister, Obie Martin Barnett and her husbands, Al and Albert; a sister-inlaw, Helen Owens; and three nephews, Myron Helm, Andrew “Andy” Owens and Todd Willcox.

She is survived by two brothers, Vigil Owens of Jackson, TN and Claude Owens (Connie) of Waldo, AR; three sisters, Velton Rodriguez (Ricardo) of Trujillo, Peru, Thelda Owens of Hopewell Community, and Jo Ann Willcox (Roy) of Pensacola, FL; ten nieces; two nephews; twelve great nieces; seven great nephews; four great -great nieces; and six great-great nephews. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends from the El Dorado area and many more across the United States including the Missionari­es that she was associated with during her service in Nigeria, Africa and their offspring called the Missionary Kids (MKs) who loved her as much as she loved them.

Pallbearer­s will be Charles Patterson, Glen Wheelus, Stan Owens, Van Owens, Kevin Owens and David Jones.

Register book and viewing will be available between 1:00 PM-4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Graveside Service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Hopewell Cemetery on Hopewell Road officiated by Bro. JW Helm under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, prior to Graveside Service.

Register book and viewing will be available between 1:00 PM-4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Nan will be deeply missed by family and friends from all walks of life.
