Season ends for Drillers with loss

The El Dorado Drillers saw their season come to an end on Tuesday with an 8-2 loss to Lake Hamilton at the Arkansas American Legion Junior State Tournament at Sheridan.

Lake Hamilton broke the game open with four runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead before scoring three more runs in the sixth.

The Drillers, who ended the season with a 10-121 record, scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, and were held to just three hits.

In the fourth, Hunter Lawrence was hit by a pitch to start the frame.

Lawrence stole second and made his way to third on a passed ball before scoring on an RBI groundout to second by Chase Brumley to cut Lake Hamilton’s lead to 5-1.

The Drillers used a pair of doubles to account for their run in the sixth.

A.J. Alsobrook led off the inning with a double off the fence in left-center.

One out later, Brumley delivered a double to right-center to score Alsobrook to cap the scoring in the contest.

The duo accounted for all of the Drillers’ offense with Alsobrook going 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored, while Brumley went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double and two RBIs.

Tyler Johnson took the loss on the mound after allowing nine hits and five runs in four innings of work.

He walked two and struck out one with all five runs being earned.

Justin Dumas pitched the final three innings, allowing four hits and three runs, which were all earned.

He walked two and struck out four.

The El Dorado Oilers won their two Zone 4 games against Texarkana Tuesday via forfeit.

The Oilers (18-9, 6-6) will be back in action tonight when they take on Arkansas Pulpwood in a doublehead­er at Camden.

Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
