To the Editor:

Living now in the midst of the worst worldwide disease in anyone’s living memory, what can we do to still be able to laugh and love what is so good in our lives?

Let’s make this journey to a peaceful place that you control. We will begin by being seated in the pose of

contentment — in a comfortable, quiet place; sitting up tall; palms facing downward resting on your thighs; with easy, relaxed breathing.

Now breathing a little deeper, be aware of your abdomen swelling out then falling back down. This is a full blown relaxation breathing process.

Dr. Joseph Campbell, who was an eminent philosopher and author, developed his theory of finding a happy life even in turbulent times. He presented his reader with concepts of bliss as a protection and a direction.

According to Dr. Campbell, no matter what the “times and the tides” hold for us, we can, through the power of our own mind, create a “bubble of bliss” shielding us from the onslaught of negativity without. This is “the protective bubble.” It is the peace and comfort and happiness that we can find though developing and living in the blissful frame of a peaceful mind.

In this powerful meditational posture, the pose of contentment, following the flow of your breathing, you are comfortably initiating the relaxation response throughout

your body.

This should feel good, and you are now in the first stage, the protective place, of the bubble of bliss.

You can fill this healthful state of mind with every conceivable beautiful nurturing thought and vision. Enjoy creative imagery.

Now, if you are feeling calm and at peace, maybe you’ve read enough

for today and you are comfortable and satisfied. It’s fine to stop when you have what you need.

However, “following your bliss” can be physical as well as mental. The path to following your bliss can bring you to physically doing things with a mindful appreciation, a state of harmony and happiness.

The following is an approach to a mindset that can be physical and live in “the moment” that is good and positive.

Yes, there are bad things that exist “out there” — but we must not let them be a part of every moment. We can bring this positive mindset forward into everything we do. When meditating, sitting, standing, or walking, you can be following your bubble of bliss with everything in this bubble being soothing, warm, and loving. In this world of the “pathway to or in the bubble of bliss,” you now have a special place, a

sanctuary, that you can go to or be in at any time, any place, of peace, quiet thoughts and good feelings—

Your own bubble of bliss awaits you. It is believed that this tension reliever can add years to your life. Worth a try. Smile. Dr. Laury Hamburg El Dorado
