Vida Vivian Walker, 98, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. Arrangemen­ts will be announced by Perry’s Funeral Chapels at a later date.

MARIA MAGDELENA PONCE DE LEON

Maria Magdelena Ponce De Leon, 84 of El Dorado, AR; died on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Timberlane Health and Rehab.

Born on May 29, 1936 in Pawnee, TX; she was the daughter of Julian and Consuelo Fisher Alvarado. Maria graduated from Texas State Tech Institute. She retired after a career in retail with Dillards. Maria enjoyed cooking and playing with her dogs and birds. Maria was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by parents and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors are a daughter Linda Sullivent (Roy) of El Dorado, AR; grandchild­ren Erik Michael Jackson (Iliana) of Pharr, TX and Erika Michelle Jackson (Jason) of Goldbar, WA; nieces Maria Cecilia Mendoza (Victor) and Mary Nave Both of West Valley, UT; nephews Adan Barrera (Rhi Za) and Michael Barrera (Tracy); a sister Julia Freeland (Bob) of Atwell, NE; a brother Victoriano Alvarado of Houston, TX. Graveside services by Heavenly Grace Funeral Home will be at 11 am, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, TX with Deacon Johnny Alvarado officiatin­g. JOHN PARKER

John Parker, age 87, of Malvern passed away Monday, August 17, 2020. He was born April 3, 1933, the son of the late Ernest and Florence Cooper Parker.

He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Laverne Parker; daughters, Karen (Harry) Jobe of Little Rock and Connie (Mark) Atkinson of Malvern; sister, Ernestine (Anthony) DeMarco of Blue Bell, Pennsylvan­ia; granddaugh­ter, Lindsay Atkinson; grandsons, John Jobe, Jason (Sandra) Jobe; step-grandson, Shane Jobe; step-great grandson, Coen Jobe; sisterin-laws, Elizabeth Parker of Arcadia, Louisiana, Delilah Parker of Farmersvil­le, Texas and Melba Bagley of El Dorado and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19 from 6:007:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 20 at 2:00pm at Hopewell Baptist Church near El Dorado. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church Ladies Auxiliary or the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or American Heart Associatio­n. Arrangemen­ts are by Regency Funeral Home. HARVEY ERLING SAXELID Harvey Erling Saxelid, age 76 of El Dorado, AR , passed away on August 15, 2020 in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Taloga, Oklahoma on October 11, 1943 to Erling and Helen Pearl Graves Saxelid. He was business manager of U.S., Sea Land and Sea Train Shipping Lines while living in Hong Kong and Taiwan and co-owner of Coast Fabrics in Sacramento, California. Harvey loved to fish and used that time for prayer and meditation. He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to a variety of music and cooking and traveling. He was blessed to have seen a good portion of the world. Harvey was dedicated to his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Davis Saxelid; two sons, Chadwick Saxelid (Tanya) and Richard Saxelid (Katy); one sister, Joan Gatterer; six grandchild­ren; three great grandchild­ren and a host of friends and loved ones. www. jonesservi­ce.com
