NOTICE OF PASSING CAROL COLEMAN

Carol Coleman 64, of El Dorado, AR., passed away August 17, 2020 at St. Vincent in Little Rock, AR. Arrangemen­ts for funeral service will be announced by Sims Mortuary.

Funeral service for Betty Sewje will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Norphlet, Arkansas. There is no visitation at the funeral home. The service has been entrusted to the profession­al care of Andrews Funeral Home.

Gus Thompson of Huttig, AR departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2020, at the Cornerston­e Hospital in West Monroe, LA.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Ward Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR

JOHN LAWSON JOHNSON

John Lawson Johnson, 87, died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.

Born June 18, 1933 in Lamberton Community near Parker’s Chapel, Union

Co., AR, he was the son of

William Clyde Johnson and

Lucille Combs Johnson.

John attended both

Parkers Chapel and El

Dorado High School. Soon after he went to work in the Aircraft Manufactur­ing

Industry in Fort Worth, TX and Long Beach, CA. John was a long-standing member of Local 706 Plumbers and Pipefitter­s Union in

El Dorado, and the Local and National member of the Experiment­al Aircraft

Associatio­n.

In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife of 57 years, Annette Steelman Johnson; a brother, James Clyde Johnson; one granddaugh­ter; and one great granddaugh­ter.

He leaves behind four daughters, Kathy White (Grady), Janet Deeds (Jake), Sharon Cheatham (Larry), all of El Dorado and Barbara Dalby of Rochester, NY; grandchild­ren, Corey White, Lauran Sappenfiel­d (Nick), Devin Patterson (Ashley), Brandon Cheatham (Hanna), Ashley Holzhauser (Logan), Tyler Cheatham, Seth Caldwell (Mallory) all of El Dorado, Brittney Caldwell-Griffin (Charlie) of Kentucky, and Beau Williams (Bernadette) stationed at JBER AFB, Alaska; great grandchild­ren, Gavin, Sienna, Archer, Adyson, Brayden, Baylor, Berkeley, Lakynn, Chip, Jace, Ben and Sylis; a sister, Billie Voss of San Jose, CA; sisters-in-law, Ann Steelman of Mountain Home, AR, Susie Steelman of Camden, AR, brother-in-law, Bennie Steelman (Sonya) of Camden, AR; many nephews; and one niece.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2020 at Young’s. According to CDC regulation­s masks are required and social distancing is practiced.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Adam Thomas officiatin­g and interment to follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for remembranc­es in honor of John be made in the form of a donation to the preservati­on or protection of wildlife through a charity or foundation.
