Ready for Learning

What you need to know

Smackover-Norphlet Ready for Learning: What you need to knowParents and students can choose between two education options, traditional/blended or virtual (Virtual Seat in the Classroom). Both options require daily attendance, and students enrolled in either learning model can participate in on-campus activities and Arkansas Athletic Association activities and practices.

On campus, social interaction will be limited through classroom arrangement, transition management and social distancing “when feasible”.

“Frequent and routine” sanitizing will be conducted on surfaces such as desks, buildings and on buses and other district vehicles.

The district will follow ADH guidelines if a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 and contact tracing will be undertaken.

Both learning models require a laptop with a webcam, which can be acquired through the school district.

Parents can contact campus administration to change from virtual to traditional or vice-versa if the initial choice is not working well for the student/family.

At this time, students are required to wear masks other than at times when adequate social distancing can be practiced. Students will wear masks in the halls and when transitioning between classes, for example.

Virtual Seat in the Classroom requires a stable home Wi-Fi connection.

In the event that in-person learning is canceled, all students will revert to virtual learning.

Teachers will conduct weekly lessons on how to use devices to prepare for the potentiality of all-virtual learning.

Wi-Fi is available at the following locations: Smackover Elementary parking lot, Smackover High School parking lot, Norphlet Middle School parking lot, Norphlet Pre-K parking lot

The school district will “follow guidance from the ADE Response Levels for On-Site Learning” in the event of an outbreak.
