POWER RANKINGS

-

1. Iowa State (7-2): The Cyclones marched into Austin and outlasted the Longhorns, nearly clinching a berth into the Big 12 championship game for the first time in school history. Iowa State won the game despite running back Breece Hall failing to eclipse 100 yards rushing for the first time this season.

2. Oklahoma (6-2): The contest between West Virginia and Oklahoma was postponed over the weekend because of COVID-19 concerns. The Sooners are favored to claim the spot opposite of Iowa State in the Big 12 championship game thanks to a five-game winning streak. Oklahoma is the five-time reigning Big 12 champions.

3. Oklahoma State (6-2): Oklahoma State outscored a feisty Texas Tech squad. Even without its two best running backs, Oklahoma State managed to gauge the Red Raiders on the ground with junior Dezmon Jackson rushing for 235 yards and three TDs.

4. Texas (5-3): The Tom Herman era is on shaky ground. Players are already jumping ship with junior offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi opting out of the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL Draft.

5. West Virginia (5-3): Running back Leedie Brown is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and 6.8 yards per catch Linebacker Tony Fields II leads the Big 12 with 79 tackles.

6. TCU (4-4): Playing Kansas is the best available medicine in the Big 12, and for a week, TCU looked like a quality offense thanks to the Jayhawks’ inability to play defense. Former five-star recruit Zachary Evans reached the 100-yard mark for the first time.

7. Baylor (2-5): Baylor outscored Kansas State by 12 points in the second half to take a one-point win over the Wildcats. QB Charlie Brewer played his best game of 2020, completing 31 of his 39 attempts for 349 yards and a pair of touchdown passes.

8. Kansas State (4-5): The Baylor loss was the fourth in a row for Kansas State. The team hasn’t won since hosting Kansas back on Oct. 24. True freshman running back Deuce Vaughn did rush for 102 yards and a score on 19 carries.

9. Texas Tech (3-6): Alan Bowman finished with 381 yards passing and three TDs against Oklahoma State. Sarodorick Thompson added 135 rushing yards.

10. Kansas (0-7): The Jayhawks are the youngest team in college football in year two under Les Miles, who shouldn’t be harshly judged for the job he is doing yet.
