MALCOLM JACK GRIFFIN

Malcolm Jack Griffin of League City Texas, age 92, died peacefully in Webster, Texas on December 22, 2020.

He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on March 29, 1928 to Malcolm Bright and Ola Jane Brewer Griffin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie

Jean Griffin, sister Marjorie Jean

Griffin Glasscock and parents

Malcolm Bright and Ola Jane

Griffin. He was married to Billie

Jean Griffin March 14th, 1959.

He graduated from El Dorado

High School and served in the United States Navy in the

Pacific during World War II.

He was employed by Lion Oil

Company in his early career before entering the petrochemi­cal industry holding numerous positions in the US, Europe and the Middle East.

He moved his family to

Webster Texas in 1969 before settling in 1974 in League City,

Texas where he resided until his death.

An avid Bible reader, he had read it numerous times and would gladly refer to life and “The Bible says…” Always concerned about exercise and health, he had an opinion from continuous research. His life was filled with running, boxing and weight lifting up until his death.

He is survived by his son and son-in-law, Chris Griffin and Ken Anctil; daughter and son-in-law Robbie Williams and Robert Williams, nephew Scott Glasscock; grandchild­ren Stacey Hancock and Jamie Blaise AND great-grandchild­ren Shelby, Emily, and Patrick.

His funeral service will be held at Funeral Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas on Thursday, January 21st at 10 AM.

GILBERT HENRY

On the 22nd of August, 1958, a baby boy entered the earth’s atmosphere, the 7th of what was to be 11 children. Born to Sylvera and T.C. Henry Sr. To their loving union, 2 daughters, Tonika and Keiara, were born. He was preceded into eternity by his parents.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Jacqueline Henry,daughters Tonika Henry of El Dorado, AR., Keiara Henry of Little Rock, AR., Aunts Mattie Noble of Junction City, AR., and Ida Mae Lee. 10 siblings Sandra Henry of Junction City, Ar. Thomas C. Henry (Wilma) of Dallas, Tx., Carolyn Powell (Charles) of Lillie, LA., Robert Henry (Barbara) of Little Rock, AR., Bruce Henry (Deborah) of Lille, LA., Rodney Henry (Stephanie) of El Dorado, AR., Leona Daranda (Stanley) of New Orleans, LA., Cynthia Gray of Schertz, TX., Angela Henry of Lillie, LA., Rhonda Stephens of Haughton, LA., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

MELBA FAYE PHILLIPS

Melba Faye Phillips, of Texarkana TX., went home to be with her Lord on January 17th, 2021. When she passed, she was at home surrounded her family. Services to Honor Her life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday January 23rd at Fairview United Methodist Church, Texarkana

AR. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday January 22nd at Fairview United Methodist Church. The family will be receiving friends and family at 140 sunset Place Texarkana TX.

Mrs. Phillips Was born on July 16th, 1940 in El Dorado AR to Vance (Buddy) and Velma Silliman. She Married her high school sweetheart and lover of her life Charles Phillips Sr on July 22nd 1960 in El Dorado AR. They were married 61 Years.

Mrs. Phillips was the administra­tor of The Area Health Education Center (UAMS) for 22 Years and then retired as the Director of The Alzheimer’s Alliance (Texarkana Chapter) after 11 Years of service in 2009. She enjoyed her retirement years at home and doing things with her family. She was a member of Eylau United Methodist Church where she loved being a part of their Choir. Mrs. Phillips was a loving Mother and Wife. Her Family was the most Important thing in her life.

Mrs. Phillips Had a passion for helping people, especially families with loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s. She and Murray James started the first Alzheimer’s support group over 40 years ago at Fairview United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her loving husband Charles Phillips of Texarkana Texas. One Son Chuck Phillips, Wendy Phillips Of Genoa Arkansas. One Daughter, and Son in Law Debbie and Don Adams of Bloomburg Tx. Ten (10) Grand Children, Chris Owen of Texarkana AR. Kayla Wood of Ashdown AR, Valari Owen of Texarkana AR. Chase Livingston of Texarkana TX. Ruston Starkey of Texarkana TX. Taylor Calhoun of Bloomburg TX. Ashleigh Calhoun and Fiancé’ Corey Downs of Texarkana TX. Sarah Adams, Simon Adams, and Sophia Adams of Texarkana TX. Six Great Grand Children, Liam Phillips, Callie and Hunter Wood, Arrow Livingston, Lincoln And Lillian Downs, and many, many Nieces, Nephews, and friends who she loved with all her heart.

She was Preceded in death by her mother and daddy Buddy and Velma Silliman of El Dorado AR. Her sister Virginia Shultz of El Dorado Ar., Francis King of Conway AR. Brother, Vance Silliman of El Dorado AR., and Sister Wanda Blackwood, of El Dorado AR.

CLAIRE ANNE THORNTON

Claire Anne Thornton, 59, of El Dorado, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

She was born September 27, 1961 to William G. and Annie Claire Jenkins Thornton in El Dorado, AR. Claire was a member of Marrable Hill Chapel and was homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her sister, Diane Latimer and husband Mike of El Dorado.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Young’s Funeral Directors.
