RUSSELLVILLE – For the first time in six years, the SAU men's basketball team has received a conference player of the week honor in consecutive weeks.

Aaron Lucas receives the award this week, co-won with Southern Nazarene's Adokiye Iyaye, one week after teammate Jalen Brooks won his second player of the week honor in his career.

The last time two Mulerider basketball players went backto-back for the conference player of the week award was January 5 and 12, 2015, when Chauncy Williams and Jaron Davis won it consecutively.

Lucas receives the accolade for the first time in his career following a 20-point, 7-rebound and 5-steal performance against Henderson State that improved the Muleriders to 5-1 on the season, as they extended their lead on top of the Eastern Division.

Lucas shot 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range.

He also made all three of his free-throw attempts.

On the season, the senior from Tulsa is averaging 14.5 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor. Lucas is shooting 39.4 percent on 3-pointers and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Muleriders' point guard is also averaging 4.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

The Muleriders faced Arkansas-Monticello on Monday. They also take on Harding on Thursday and Arkansas Tech on Saturday.
