CLASSROOM UPDATE
Several local school districts on Monday announced plans to return to on-site instruction this week as last week’s snow and ice melt away.
Schools in the El Dorado School District will open one hour later than usual, at 9 a.m., and buses will also run an hour late. School will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences.
Some ESD bus routes will not run this morning, including: Route 2, Roberson Gravel; Route 3, Old Lock
8 / Champagnolle Road between Crain City & Armer Roads; Route 4, Lawson Road between Moro Bay Hwy & Rhodes Chapel Road; Route 5, Mt. Zion Road/Phone Pole Road; Route 6, Champagnolle Road between Armer Road & 167; Route 14, Parker Loop; and Route 18, Anges Road. The routes will run in the afternoon.
The SmackoverNorphlet School District announced that on-campus instruction will resume there today as well.
“Buses will run their regular routes. Please be patient with our bus drivers as they may need to take extra precautions on some of the rural routes,” the school district posted on The Buckaroo Blog.
The Junction City School District said in a post on its website it expects a normal school day Tuesday. The district asked that parents have their child wait for buses at the clearest part of rural roads, as buses may have some difficulty navigating them.
“Please understand that we may not be able to get down some roads safely in the morning, so we ask that you have your child wait at the clearest part of the road as possible,” a post on the district’s website read.
The Strong-Huttig School District will continue virtual learning today in light of a boil order still in effect in the city, according to a post on the district’s Facebook page.
“The city of Strong remains under a boil order, and major water repairs have not been completed. Interruptions in the water supply and the problem with extremely low water pressure has not been fully resolved at the close of business on today (Monday). As a result the district will remain virtual tomorrow (Tuesday) to ensure an adequate supply of water is available in the reserve tanks,” the post, published Monday, said.
The Parkers Chapel School District announced on Sunday it would “hope to be able to return to on-site instruction on Tuesday.” No further announcements were made about on-site instruction by press time Monday.
Lunch in the PCSD will be cafeteria manager’s choice the first day on-site instruction resumes and last week’s lunch menu will be picked up for the rest of the week, according to a post on the PCSD website.
