An El Dorado man he is scheduled for a first appearance hearing today in 35th Judicial District Court for allegedly robbing a local convenience store last week.

Earl E. Green, 27, of North Broadway Boulevard, was arrested Wednesday for aggravated robbery in connection to the incident, which was reported Feb. 16 at Express Way North West-Exxon, 2424 N. West Avenue, and involved two suspects, a man — identified as Green — and a woman, police said.

Officers were called to the scene at 6:41 p.m. A cashier told police that a woman attempted

to purchase two cigars, but when he asked for identification to confirm her age, she became agitated and walked out of the store.

Moments later, the woman returned with a man, later identified as Green, who attempted to purchase two cigars, but did not have enough money to pay for the cigars, the complainant said.

He noted that Green had $5 cash and the cigars cost $7, adding that Green asked if he could complete the transaction with the cash in hand and return later to pay the $2 balance.

The complainant said he refused and Green asked him to refund the $5.

The cashier said he processed the refund in the store's point of sale system and when he placed the $5 cash on the counter, Green became agitated and grabbed the cash and the cigars.

He said that when he tried to take the cigars from Green, Green began punching the plexi-glass partition on the counter and threw a stapler and “wet floor” sign at him.

The cashier said that as he ran from behind the counter to confront Green, Green issued a terroristic threat, saying, “If I see you again, I'm going to kill you.”

Green and the woman then ran to their vehicle — a white Honda Accord — and headed south on North West Avenue.

Police said the incident was captured on the store's surveillance video system.

The cashier sustained a minor laceration to his left wrist and one of his fingernails was pulled back and bruised, police said.

At approximately 11 p.m., another Express Way employee reported that Green called the store “to explain his actions to the employee who was on duty” when the incident occurred.

On Wednesday, Green was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

He then agreed to speak with investigators about the robbery at Express Way and he was subsequently taken into custody in connection to the incident.

The woman has not been arrested.

Boy arrested for allegedly attacking his mother

A 9-year-old boy faces assault and battery charges for allegedly choking and striking his mother during a domestic disturbance that was reported to El Dorado police Wednesday night.

Officers were called just before 8 p.m. to a residence in the 1600 block of South West Avenue in reference to the disturbance.

The boy's mother told officers that her son had become upset about a personal matter and as she talked to him about the issue to calm him down, he tried to smother her with a pillow.

She said the pair were sitting on the couch at the time and the boy grabbed a pillow, climbed on top of her and covered her face with the pillow.

The woman said she was able to “get (the boy) off her” and retreat to another part of the residence but the boy gave chase.

When he caught up to her, he grabbed her by the throat with both hands and choked her “until she couldn't breathe,” the woman said.

She said the boy released his grip on her throat and struck her on the left side of the face. He then began yelling at her and making disturbing comments.

Police said the boy was cited to appear next month in Union County Juvenile Court on a felony charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member and third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

The boy was released into the custody of his grandfather, police said.
