First Financial Bank to sponsor program

On Friday, the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society announced that the 29th Annual Mayhaw Festival will take place on May 1, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

First Financial Bank will, once again, be the title sponsor for the event. It is the company’s eighth straight year to sponsor the festival.

“We are so pleased to partner with such an amazing community leader in First Financial Bank,” said Steve Biernacki, executive director of the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society. “Their commitment to seeing South Arkansas grow and prosper is truly contagious.”

Tens of thousands of people, from all over the region, have attended the Festival over the last three decades.

Chris Hegi, president and CEO of First Financial Bank, said he is committed to “the things that make El Dorado such a great place to live and raise a family.”

The Mayhaw Festival, Hegi said, “is truly one of my favorite events of the year. It is something that touches all generations with live music, a car show, games for the kids and the plant sale is always a hit!”

The Mayhaw Festival presented by First Financial Bank and the City of El Dorado is an annual street festival with craft and food vendors, a vintage market, an antique car show, Newton House Museum tours, kids’ activities, Mayhaw jelly and live music.

It is a day of family fun held on the grounds of the Newton House Museum. The Mayhaw Festival has been held on the first Saturday of May each year since 1992 and is put on by the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society in El Dorado, Arkansas. The event is free and open to the public.
