Smackover cruises to victory over Hazen

With the weather warming up, it seems Smackover’s offense also seems to be perking up.

For the second time in three games, the Bucks produced double figures, as Smackover topped Hazen 11-1 at the Bauxite Tournament Tuesday.

Bailey Rivers homered and drove in three runs while going 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Smackover.

The home run was the second in three games for Smackover (3-2) after Chase Brumley went deep in the Bucks’ win over Rison last weekend.

Brumley himself drove in two runs against the Hornets.

Sawyer Cropper went 2-for-3 with three runs scored,

while Cole McNeely and Maddox Gottberg each had one hit and scored two runs.

Britton Warren was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, and Calvin Collins and Jacob Eubanks each had one RBI in the win.

Eubanks finished with a two-hitter and allowed one unearned run in an abbreviate­d four-inning game. He didn't issue any walks and struck out eight.

Prior to their win against Hazen, the Bucks topped Parkers Chapel 7-2.

The Bucks led 3-2 before breaking the game open with a four-run fifth.

Eubanks was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored one run for the Bucks, who had eight hits in the game.

Rivers, Brumley, Tanner Mitchell, Landon Wallingsfo­rd, Devan Lofton and Jax Todd all had one hit for Smackover.

Rivers, Cropper, Mitchell, Wallingsfo­rd and Lofton joined Eubanks with one RBI.

Brumley turned in a sterling performanc­e on the mound, registerin­g 12 strikeouts while fashioning a three-hitter. Of the two runs he allowed, one was earned and he issued no walks.

Trace Shoup was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Reid Cates was 1-for-3 with one run scored for the Trojans.

Cates took the loss, allowing eight hits and seven runs with only four being earned over 6 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. He walked three and struck out five.
