Hearings today for drug suspects

A Junction City woman is scheduled to appear in 35th Judicial District Court today, two days after she was arrested for allegedly forcing her way inside a relative’s house and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Leslie Miller, 56, was arrested Wednesday for residential burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia, both felony charges.

Officers responded at 7:10 p.m. to a report of a woman kicking the door of and trying to enter a residence in the 1200 block of North Highland.

Upon arrival, they spoke with Miller, who she had gone to the residence to visit her sister but her sister’s boyfriend answered the door and told her to leave.

She said she refused and when she “pushed her way through the door,” the man grabbed her and struck her several times.

The man told officers that he told Miller that her sister was sleeping and that she needed to leave. He said he then closed the door and Miller began kicking the door.

He said that when he opened the door to tell Miller to stop kicking it, she forced her way inside.

He admitted grabbing Miller and shoving her to the ground to prevent her from entering the residence.

Officers took Miller into custody and during a search incident to arrest, they found a pill bottle containing a glass pipe on her person.

Charles B. Poore, 39, and a 16-year-old girl, both of El Dorado, were arrested Wednesday on drug charges by the El Dorado Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Division.

Poore and the girl were taken into custody during a traffic stop at 4:38 p.m. in the area of South College and West Cedar for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and possession of methamphetamine, respectively.

The each face an additional felony charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police recovered two bags of methamphetamine, digital scales and two syringes, one of which reportedly contained an unidentified liquid.

Poore is set for a first appearance hearing today in district court and the girl is scheduled to appear in juvenile court on April 8.

No further details about the case were available Thursday afternoon.
