OBITUARIES PATRICIA ANN MORNING SUN GOLEY

Patricia Ann Morning Sun Goley was born to Fred Albert Bishop and Ella May LaBeff Bishop on the 6th of October, 1957. On February 22, 1980 she married Dale Goley. They raised two daughters, Ella Daniels and Zoie Lovejoy.

Faith, family and culture were at the center of Pat’s life. She instilled a strong system of values, respect and resolve in her daughters. Pat witnessed her daughters and grandchildren pursuing their career and family goals with pride and was there to celebrate each accomplishment. She once gained special permission to leave in-patient rehabilitation just after having major surgery so that she could travel hours to attend her grandson’s graduation.

Pat was as strong as she was kind. She was always there to share encouragement and guidance with anyone who needed her support. Everyone whose lives she touched knew her as a source of wisdom and strength. She lived a life of service, always helping anyone she could. Before her health declined, she spent her free time taking elders to their doctor’s appointments, helping others with sick relatives and driving around town helping anyone who asked.

Pat had a passion for building cultural awareness and mutual respect. She spent many hours sitting in front of groups of children telling old legends and teaching them about the beauty of Native American culture. Many who attended local schools or festivals share fond memories of their time with her. She was an ambassador, not in profession but in heart and soul.

Pat recently reposted a quote “I believe in miracles because I am one. Because there is no doubt in my mind that I am only here today because of God’s Grace.” Due to her health struggles, family and friends have prayed for a little more time with Pat. God granted those prayers for years. On Wednesday, the time came for her to go home. The world is a little dimmer without her light, but the legacy she left stands strong as a testimony to the tremendous and lasting impact a good person can have on all those around them. Pat left her mark in the hearts of those she loved, hearts that hurt today because she was called home, but will heal a bit stronger tomorrow because of the love she imbibed in them. Pat has gone on to be with God, who she always put first and will continue to serve in a new way.

Pat is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dale Goley; her two sisters, Mary Linda Darden and Helen Meeks; her two daughters, Ella Daniels and Zoie Lovejoy; six grandchildren, Daniel, Adrianna, Harley, Luke, Tessa, and Joshua; as well as a multitude of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 29, 2021 at Perry’s Funeral Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery.
