El Dorado upends Malvern

El Dorado split two home games over the weekend, falling to Camden Fairview 9-6 on Friday before bouncing back to top Malvern 6-4 on Saturday.

Against the Leopards, the Wildcats came from behind to win, scoring twice in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Preston Howard was the winning pitcher after tossing four hitless innings out of the bullpen. He walked one and struck out two. Tyler Johnson preceded Howard on the mound with a scoreless inning in relief with one walk.

Howard also helped himself by driving in two runs while hitting one of El Dorado's five doubles in the win.

Landen Rainwater, who homered twice in Thursday's win at Magnolia, went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for EHS.

Johnson had a double, an RBI and scored a run, while Rhett Richardson also had a double, an RBI and scored a run while adding a walk.

Joseph Bolin had a double and an RBI, and Holden Lowry had a double for EHS.

Against the Cardinals, the Wildcats couldn't hang on to a 5-1 lead, as the visitors scored six runs in the seventh to cap their comeback.

Richardson was 2-for3 with a walk, one run scored and an RBI for the Wildcats, who had five hits in the game.

Austin Jobe and Johnson each had one hit and one RBI, while Lowry had a double and scored a run.

Lowry took the loss in relief of Rainwater, who allowed two runs with only one being earned over 5 1/3 innings. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out five.

The Wildcats (6-5) host Hot Springs Tuesday.
