Smackover picks up league win over Rison

SMACKOVER – Karis Robinson swung a hot bat Tuesday to lead Smackover past Rison 11-5 in 3A 8 softball action. The Lady Bucks improved to 15-2 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Robinson went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and five RBI.

“She hit line shots every time up. She really saw the ball well today and hit it well,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. “They weren't just over the fence, either. They were way over the fence.”

Malorie Pullin followed

Robinson with back-to-back solo homers in the sixth inning. The junior was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Pullin was also the winning pitcher, striking out 13 while allowing seven hits, a walk and one hit batter.

The Lady Bucks scored four runs in the first. Mackenzie Preston singled and Robinson doubled before Lindy Bates drove both home with a single.

Pullin followed with a RBI single and Hannah Parker hit a double that drove in a run.

Smackover scored once in the second when Preston singled and scored on Pullin's hit. In the third, Reese McKinnon doubled and scored on a single by Claire Schibler. Gabbi Kelly singled home a run before Robinson stroked a two-run homer.

McKinnon was 2-for-4 with a double. The Lady Wildcats scored in the first on Belle Steward's two-out, two run single and again in the second on a two-run homer by Amelia Steward.

“I'm glad we got it in,” said Steele. “We were lucky with the weather to get it in. I'm happy for that.”

Smackover hosted Junction City on Wednesday.
