Lady Wildcats roll to conference victory

El Dorado's offense erupted for 18 hits, including a pair of home runs Tuesday as the Lady Wildcats ripped Hot Springs 14-4 in six innings. The Lady Wildcats improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in 5A-South action.

The Lady Trojans broke open a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third. El Dorado countered with an eight-run fourth inning followed by four more in the fifth.

“It took us a while

adjust to their pitcher's speed,” said El Dorado coach Chris Ezell. “Once we got through the lineup a couple of times, we were able to let the ball get to us and it shifted the momentum our way.”

Cammie Gadberry led the hit parade, going 4-for-5 with a home run, six RBI and two runs scored.

El Dorado trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the fourth. Abigail Thompson led off the inning with double to the wall and scored when Macy Eads reached on an error. Haley Spencer was hit by pitch and Jill Tissue walked to load the bases. Makaylen Swint had an RBI single. Then, Raielynn Fudge doubled off the centerfiel­d fence to drive in two runs.

Gadberry traded places with Fudge on a two-run double. Delaney Loyd drove her in with an RBI single. Eads doubled in Delaney after that.

In the fifth, Spencer led off the inning with a solo home run and Gadberry added a two-run home run later in the inning to stretch out the lead.

Swint went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Fudge had two hits with two RBI with Loyd, Thompson, Eads and Tissue adding two hits apiece.

Tissue was the winning pitcher. In six innings, she allowed four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and five walks.
