Leslie Putman’s letter in the April 4, 2021 edition, of the El Dorado News-Times referred to a “No Food, No Drinks” rule in the recent Georgia election integrity act of 2021. Clearly, Leslie failed to read all of Section 33 of that act and by doing so know that the “rule” referenced is not accurate. Voters, or electors are they are defined in code, are not prohibited from exercising personal responsibility and bringing their own food and drink. This Section states that “No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector” within distance limits specified for polling places and electors. It states additionally that “This Code section shall not be construed to prohibit a poll officer from distributing materials, as required

by law, which are necessary for the purpose of instructing electors or from distributing materials prepared by the Secretary of State which are designed solely for the purpose of encouraging voter participation in the election being conducted or from making available self-service water from an unattended receptacle to an elector waiting in line to vote.”

Has Leslie Putman now joined Joe Biden who was awarded “Four Pinocchios” by The Washington Post for his claims about the Georgia election law? Harry Morgan

We live in a society where people are saying wrong is right. It’s okay to live together outside marriage, it’s okay to be a slob and dress sloppy, not to mention our entertainment environment shows sick humor and invalid life style. In this day and age almost anything goes. Years ago back in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, some of this behavior wouldn’t been allowed. Today our public schools are war zones, where mass shootings take place, not to mention shopping malls and movie theaters. God is pleading for America to change. Wrong is wrong in the sight of God. My parents made sure Leslie and I were neat whether we went to school or go shopping. My Mother didn’t allow Leslie and I to go shirtless. Not even at home. We wore shorts and a sleeveless muscle shirt. During the Summer Leslie and I slept in the back bedroom of our house. It was the coolest room in the entire house, because it was shaded. Our parents slept back there too. Mom made Leslie and I a Pallet with two air mattresses covered with white bed linens. As the saying goes Mother Knows Best. We would watch the NBC Nightly news with Chet Huntley and David Brinkley. As they concluded the program saying Goodnight Chet- Goodnight David. Those were the days that I sometimes wish we could return to. We watched The Andy Griffith Show, Beverly Hillbillies, Dick Van Dyke. I use to watch Dragnet and Adam 12. However; today our television shows are sick. They’re not even worth watching. God is pleading for us to turn from our wicked ways.

The recent disturbance where a guy ran his car through a barrier at the US Capital, and then pulled a knife on two police officers, and fatally stabbing one,was totally unaccpetable. No more than last January, when those yahoos stormed the capital and disrupted constitutional proceedings.I was glad to see those no good hoodlums go up on chrages. At least, the latest perp saved the taxpayers from having to house ,feed, and clothe him for life.As well as a long trial ,where hot shot lawyers could get him off the hook.It is ridiculous that a well learned and literate society can be so depraved.People who have no more self control than that had the rod spared with them too much by their parents. The Bible teaches”foolishnees is in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him”.As a teacher,Ii support corporal punishment. Three of the schools I worked in used corporal punishment. It always gets the point across. People ,like these hoodlums,I mentioned, can always learn better from an old fashioned prison chain gang.Make prison a place of punishment, not a country club.Abolish parole, and make the death penalty madatory for certain crimes. Like in the words of that great southern gospel sonng”we want America back from those who have no self control”. Leslie Putman
