Corks and Canvas scheduled
August theme is ‘pretty fly for a cacti’
The South Arkansas Arts Center is inviting the community to uncork their creativity at the August Corks and Canvas art class.
This month’s Corks and Canvas class is being led by local artist Marla Tomlinson and will be held on Thursday, August 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. The class is a fun-filled night of painting and collaging that is designed for people who have always wanted to try their hand at art and also have some fun along the way.
Corks and Canvas classes have something for everyone, from the newbie to the seasoned artist. Participants can enjoy a time of relaxation with their friends re-creating the featured painting of the night. Paints, brushes and all other art supplies needed are provided, and the experienced local artist leading the class will show participants step-by-step through the process of completing a work of art in three hours.
This month, Tomlinson has chosen a multi-media project where participants will use watercolors, acrylics and pencils to create fun and festive two-dimensional cactuses. Each participant will go home after the class with their own cactus creation, fitting the August theme “Pretty fly for a cacti.”
No experience is needed.
SAAC will be providing individually wrapped snacks and all supplies needed to create this month’s masterpieces. Participants are welcome to bring their own drink of choice.
Register for the hands-on workshop at saac-arts.org or call the SAAC office at 870862-5474. There is a limit of 10 participants. The workshop fee is $40.
SAAC is located at 110 E. 5th St. in El Dorado.
