Warren G to open for Ice Cube at MusicFest

The Murphy Arts District announced Thursday afternoon that rapper Warren G will be the opening act for Ice Cube’s headline performanc­e on the second night of MusicFest, set for October 2 at the First Financial Music Hall.

Warren G, like Ice Cube, is a legendary West Coast rapper. He rose to prominence in the early 90’s as part of the trio 213 alongside Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg.

After the group dissolved, Warren G worked alongside other West Coast staples such as Tupac and Dr. Dre, even contributi­ng to Dre’s seminal album, “The Chronic.”

His own debut album, “Regulate…G Funk Era” sold over three million copies in the U.S. and was certified as triple platinum by the RIAA, bolstered by the single

“Regulate.”

Tickets are available in three sections: premium, pit and general admission. Premium tickets include a seat in an elevated section located in the front right and front left of the stage and a private bartender for each section. Pit tickets are general admission, standing room only and located directly in front of the stage. General admission tickets are first come, first serve, located behind the pit section. General admission is standing room only with limited seating in the back of the room.

Doors to the concert will open at 6 p.m. and the show is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at eldomad.com or by calling the box office at 870444-3007. Patrons may also purchase their tickets in person at the MAD box office at 101 East Locust Street.

Tickets for the October 1 concert, MusicFest night 1, featuring Frank Foster with special guest Pryor and Lee are currently on sale at the above-mentioned locations.
