A funeral service for Rev. Vernon Roy Lee, 69, of Ruston, La., was held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 2:00 PM at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston, La. The service was officiated by Bro. Rocky Maddox and assisting in the service was Bro. Jeff Smart,

John Adams. Interment followed in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Bernice, La. under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in

Farmervill­e, La.

Vernon Lee, 69, of Ruston,

La. passed away on August

26, 2021. Vernon dearly loved his wife and his family. They meant the world to him. He was a passionate pastor who loved sharing the word of God and loved serving the Lord.

He pastored several churches in Louisiana, Mississipp­i,

Arkansas and Texas. Vernon also hosted fourteen tours to Israel, making fifteen trips to Israel himself. At one point, he was the president of the Baptist Missionary Associatio­n in three different states, and he also served as the president of the BMA of America. Vernon will be missed by many.

Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Bro. S.R. and Evie Lee; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bro. Milas and Peggy Parker; his brother, Ray Lee; and his brother-in-law, Jr. Parker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Rhonda Parker Lee; son Shannon Grant Lee (Tina) of Junction City, Arkansas; granddaugh­ters, Alexis “Puddin” Lee (David) and Kaila Storey; grandson, Ryan Storey (Blayne); great-granddaugh­ter, Adelyne “Tane” Parish; siblings, Ann Pearson, Pat Daniels and Sam Lee; mother-in-law, Lorene Parker; sistersin-law, Debbie Lee, Joyce Temple (Bill), Beverly Mayo, Lori Duty (Mike) and Colleen Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Pallbearer­s will be Matt Duty, Marshal Doss, Michael Shows, Josh Hall, Chris Temple, Mark Temple, Tim Parker, Ben Jones, Keith Rodgers, Mickey Rodgers and Johnny Pearson.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston, La.

The family would like to thank Joyce and Bill Temple for all their love and care while assisting throughout Vernon’s illness and they would also like to thank the staff of Premier Hospice for their kindness while helping the family throughout this difficult season. They also thank everyone for their love and prayers.
