Hurricane relief donation drive today
The United Way of Union County will hold a donation drive for Hurricane Ida relief today at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Items needed include water and water filters; canned food; cleaning supplies; medical and hygiene supplies; batteries and battery-operated electronics; construction materials; fuel; and gas cards. No clothing items will be accepted other than for new-prepackaged socks and underwear.

Evacuee dinner tonight
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, which is located at 512 Champagnolle Rd., plans to serve spaghetti dinner for Hurricane Ida evacuees both at the church and at nearby hotels.
Blackberry Smoke tickets available
Public sales of Blackberry Smoke tickets begin today at 10 a.m. The country-rock band will perform at the Murphy Arts District’s First Financial Music Hall on Oct. 23 as part of their “You Hear Georgia Tour.”
Seating for the event is reserved by section and will be available for purchase at eldomad.com or by calling the box office at 870-444-3007. Tickets may also be purchased at the box office at 101 E. Locust St. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
Economic Outlook Luncheon RSVP deadline
Today is the deadline to RSVP for the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Outlook Luncheon, which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Sept. 8, in the El Dorado Conference Center, 311 S. West Ave.
The keynote speaker of the upcoming luncheon will be Dennis Harris, president of Matheson, the parent company of Continental Carbonic Products, Inc.
