OBITUARIES MILDRED BUTLER ROGERS

Mildred Butler Rogers, age 92, of El Dorado went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20, being peacefully and lovingly cared for by the staff of John R. Williamson Hospice House.

Mildred Butler Rogers was born on December 21, 1929 in Sparkman, Ar. She was the daughter of Willie and Hazel Campbell Butler.

She graduated from Sparkman High School in 1947 and then attended Draughons School of Business in Little Rock in 1947 and 1948. She married James Robert Rogers on September 6, 1952.

She was retired from Wheeling Pipeline and Lion Oil Company in El Dorado. She had been a member of the Vantrease Church since 1956 and a New Church Charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church of El Dorado. She was a member of the Rebecca Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and the El Dorado Desk and Derrick Club. She loved and adored her church family.

Mildred grew up on the family farm in Sparkman where she started picking cotton at the age of five. Some of her proudest accomplishments are a testament of who she was, a selfless woman. After her husband Robert returned from serving in the army, she worked and put him through college. She was also so happy to put all three of her children through the University of Arkansas so that they could graduate debt free. Even though she worked full time her family always came first. Her greatest strength was showing her love. She loved sending and receiving Christmas cards and catching up with family and friends on the phone.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James R. Rogers, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Willie Butler, two sisters, Evelyn Welch and Helen Groce, and her brother William Arthur Butler.

She is survived by one daughter, Debra Flynt (Rick) of Fayetteville and two sons, Steve Rogers (Lisa) of El Dorado, and Bob Rogers (Maria) of Conway. Her grandchildren, Callie Flynt of Fayetteville, Laura Rogers of Camden, Leslie Rogers of Dallas, TX, Lacey Rogers of Los Angeles, CA, Allie Rogers and Andrew Rogers of Conway, Andy Turner (Chesley) of El Dorado, Julee Turner of Arkadelphia and one great granddaughter Preslee Turner of Arkadelphia. She is also survived by her best friend Barbara Rogers. The family would like to thank Marie Hyatt who so lovingly and patiently cared for Mildred for 20 years and then she was recently blessed with another devoted caregiver Debbie Turner.

She loved her many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Mark Methodist Church with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am.
