Kids ‘N’ Golf campers recognized
Local children had the opportunity to hit the links this week during the 2022 Kids ‘N’ Golf Junior Camp.
On Monday, campers headed to the Lions Club Municipal Golf Course to learn life skills through the game of golf.
Camp participants, who ranged in age from 8 to 14, were recognized on Thursday for their achievements through the week. Campers were split into two divisions based on their experience and proficiency and all received awards in different categories.
Achievement awards handed out were:
- Most Improved Player, received by Caden McDaniel and Jayden Miller
- Best Work Ethic, received by Waylon Leftridge and Ashton Grider
- Most Likely to Win the Masters, received by Dess McCoy ad Dax Preston
- Jimmy Howard Spirit of Golf Award, received by Emmy Smith and Sienna Sappenfield
“Each year the golf camp is a great way to introduce the game of golf to many young people in our area who may never have been on a golf course before,” said Art Noyes, executive director of Kids ‘N’ Golf.
Kids ‘N’ Golf coaches this year included Nathan Weinischke, Caleb Lee, Billy Lester, Katie Benson, Daphny Chen, Noyes, Gavin Prothro and Hope Walthall.
This year’s camp was presented by Kids ‘N’ Golf in partnership with SouthArk Junior Golf. The mission of KidsNGolf is to introduce life changing principles, disciplines and personal confidence in the lives of young people through the teaching and playing of the game of golf. SouthArk Junior Golf is dedicated to promoting junior golf in southern Arkansas.
