Local standouts earn All-Star recognition
The Arkansas Activities Association announced AllStar representatives for football, volleyball, cheerleading and dance this week. El Dorado's DeAndra Burns,
Jr., and Takoi Steward were named to the West All-Star Football Team. El Dorado's Kasynn Bledsoe was named an AllStar cheerleader for the West with Parkers Chapel's Kinley Moore earning All-Star cheerleading status for the East.
The 2023 AllStar games will be held at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway on June 23-24.
Burns played receiver for the Wildcats. The Arkansas State signee led El Dorado with 69 receptions for 1,106 yards and 14 touchdowns.
He also rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown, returned kickoffs for 452 yards and two touchdowns and 12 punts for 211 yards and one touchdown.
Steward played defensive tackle and nose guard on El Dorado's defensive line. The senior recorded 65 tackles with 24 tackles for loss, including 5.5 sacks.
Bledsoe helped El Dorado's cheerleaders win their first state championship.
“It's definitely a proud mom moment,” said El Dorado coach Tab Bledsoe. “I know how hard she works and the extra time put in to get to where she is. As a coach I'm always proud of my athletes accomplishments but this one hits a little different being my own child.”
Moore helped Parkers Chapel win its third consecutive 2A state championship.
“Kinley is an all-around strong and powerful cheerleader,” said Parkers Chapel coach Torri Jacobs. “She is one that always comes into practice ready to go and gives 110 percent each rep. She leads by example. She is a powerhouse tumbler and an awesome base and back spot. She's one that isn't going to allow a stunt to come down or a top girl to hit the mat. When she's on the sideline, your eyes are drawn to her sharpness and how she connects with the crowd.
“I'm super excited for Kinley to have this experience and represent Parkers Chapel and Team East as she completes her cheer career.”
