York helps Wildcats power past Pine Bluff 13-5

PINE BLUFF — If the last two games are any type of indicator, El Dorado’s Sam York looks to be heating up for the stretch run.

A day after picking up three hits at Benton, the senior went 4-for-4 with five RBIs to lead El Dorado past Pine Bluff 13-5 Friday in a 5A South tilt.

York, who has signed with Hill College in Texas, had four singles and a double while scoring twice for the Wildcats (9-6, 7-4).

Against Benton on Thursday, York was 3-for-3 with a double, two walks and an RBI.

Leading 4-2 at the end of the first, the Wildcats scored single runs in the second, third and fifth innings along with a threerun fourth to extend their lead to 10-2.

Mitchell Polk went 3-for-4 with three singles and drove in three runs for the Wildcats, who had 12 hits.

Holden Lowry went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. He also scored three runs.

Jake Webster-Moore, Peyton Howard and Paxton Strong all had singles with Howard adding an RBI in the win. WebsterMoo­re also stole two bases.

Jonah Davis walked twice and had an RBI for El Dorado.

Polk combined with three relievers on a five-hitter to pick up the win.

A sophomore, Polk walked two and struck out five over three innings. He allowed two runs and one hit.

Ethan Darden followed by working 2 1/3 innings. He gave up three hits and two runs with one walk and four strikeouts.

Daniel Roblee worked 1 1/3 innings, giving up one hit and one run with two walks and three strikeouts.

Drew Owens got the final out to seal the victory.

Pine Bluff (0-11, 0-8) faces Hot Springs Lakeside in a doublehead­er on Monday.

The Wildcats host Texarkana on Tuesday in a key conference clash.
