Smiths celebrate 50 years of marriage
Marv and Christie Smith, of Chico, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 14, 2020.
Two anniversary trips they had planned were canceled because of the coronavirus. Their son Preston Smith hosted a family barbecue for them in his backyard. Their son Brad Smith, along with his family; wife, Susie; son, Harper; and daughter Delilah contributed to the fun and the dinner.
The couple met in 1968 in the student union at Chico State. After marrying they moved briefly to Santa Clara, but soon moved back to Chico, where she completed her teaching credential.
He spent his career as a pharmaceutical rep and walnut farmer and she taught for 25 years in Chico.
In retirement they enjoy traveling, golf, hiking, friends and family.
