PUSD approves building plans for Ponderosa Elementary School
PARADISE » The Paradise Unified School District approved in a special meeting Tuesday night new building plans for Ponderosa Elementary school.
The school, which is at 6593 Pentz Road will have a new administration building and a stem lab.
The decision continues the district’s move towards modernization following the Camp Fire.
Earlier this year, the district approved the plans to improve Paradise High School, Cedarwood Elementary Pine Ridge School, and Paradise Intermediate school is currently the Paradise Ridge Elementary school site.
This latest move is part of a $135 million master facilities update that the district started in April.
In April, the district approved a plan where phase 1 work at Ponderosa includes a new multi-purpose facility, administration building. Phase 2 would include a steam lab as well. That would cost about $10 million.
The plan called for $7.6 million in Phase 1 work, that included a repair to Switchgear Low Voltage, miscellaneous fire repairs, gas piping, campus-wide fencing, painting permanent facilities, a new multi-purpose facility, and administration building, reseed grass, resurface hardcourts and relocate lay structures (from PRES). That phase was expected to be done by fall 2021.
Phase 2 there will cost almost $10.8 million and will modernize classrooms and build a STEAM Lab.
The board has approved the building plans for the new administration building and Steam Lab on Tuesday. The PUSD is also set to meet on Tuesday night.
