Denney tops $1M in 1st Congressio­nal District race

Incumbent Doug LaMalfa has raised $834,973

Audrey Denney is raisingmor­e money Doug LaMalfa in the 1st Congressio­nal District race, and outspendin­g him more than two to one, according to documents posted of the Federal Election Commission website.

The Chico Democrat has taken in $1,322,032 and spent $803,725. The incumbent Republican from Richvale has raised $834,973 and spent 309,096.

The bulk of Denney’s contributi­ons are from individual­s, totaling $1,261,076. Democratic Party entities have kicked in $8,398 and committees have added $47,200.

LaMalfa has raised more from committees than individual­s, $410,469 to $294,910.

The district includes all of Butte County, eastern Glenn County, and all or parts of eight counties north to Oregon and east to Nevada.

In the 3rd Congressio­nal District, which includes Willows and Orland, incumbent John Garamendi (D-Walnut Grove) has big fundraisin­g and spending leads over his challenger, Republican Tamika Hamilton of Dixon.

Garamendi has taken in $ 793,655 and spent $ 567,380. Individual­s contribute­d $ 312,029 and committees added $443,624.

Hamilton has raised $146,136, all but $2,635 in individual contributi­ons. She has spent $121,199.

Assembly races

James Gallagher ( RYuba City) has raised $303,938 in his quest to be reelected in the 3rd Assembly District, and spent $195,219.

His opponent, Democrat James Henson of Paradise, has not filed any campaign finance reports with the Secretary of State’s Office.

In the 1st Assembly District, incumbent Megan Dahle (R-Bieber) has raised $310,480 and spent $273,964.

Her opponent, Democrat Elizabeth Betancourt of Happy Valley, has raised $201,712 and spent $170,712.

The 3rd District includes the Butte County’s population, but the 1st District includes Cohasset, Forest Ranch, Magalia, Concow, Berry Creek and Forbestown.

Chico school board

Campaign finance reports by two candidates for the Chico Unified School District board have been posted on the Butte County Clerk-Recorder’s Office’s website.

Matt Tennis has reported raising $21,293, and spending $4,978.

Carrie Krueger has taken in $12,615 and spent $ 4,685. She loaned her campaign $100.
