- Staff reports

CHICO » In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Enloe Medical Center will be hosting a webinar via Facebook with two of its surgical oncologists on Oct. 22 at noon.

Dr. Karen Ching-Tismal and Dr. Soumya Pai, both from Enloe Comprehensive Breast Care, will cover several topics including those at risk of breast cancer, signs of the disease, treatment options, mammograms, how often women should get them and other screening options.

More than 200,000 women and 2,300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“The most effective way of fighting breast cancer is through early detection,” Ching-Tismal said in a press release. “One out of eight women will develop breast cancer throughout their lifetime. That’s why self- breast examinations and mammograms are crucial. The earlier cancer can be treated, the better a woman’s chances are for survival.”

Ching-Tismal and Pai will also talk about services offered through the Enloe Regional Cancer Center and how they can help patients throughout their experience with cancer.

The broadcast can be viewed on Enloe’s Facebook page atwww.facebook.com/ enloe.medical when it begins at noon. Following the end of the livestream, the video will be available on a recording will be available on Facebook and on Enloe’s YouTube channel at www. youtube.com/user/ EnloeMedicalCtr.
