OROVILLE » Since Butte County PublicHealth last updated its COVID-19 dashboard on Friday, an additional 41 cases were added to the total case count on Monday, for a tally of 3,002 cases to date. However, approximately half of those cases were added as “reassigned” cases.

The county Public Health department said in a press release there are 21 cases now added to Butte County’s total case number that were previously assigned to other counties. These cases were later determined to be of individuals living in Butte County. Reassignments can occur in instances where an individual resides in Butte County, but is not considered a permanent resident, Butte County Public Health said.

The cases will be added to the county’s dashboard on the date they were originally reported. A majority of the cases occurred between late August and early September.

Butte County Public Health said the addition of these cases will not change the county’s daily case rate or tier status under the state’s monitoring system known as Blueprint for a Safer Economy. Butte County has spent three weeks in Tier 2, the color- coded Red Tier that is less restrictive than the purple Tier 1 the county was previously in. Per the state’s latest metrics updated

weekly, Butte County has a case rate of 3.9 per 100,000 and a 2.2 percent positivity rate.

Aside from the 21 reas

signed cases, there were 20 new cases reported between Friday andMonday — 12 on Saturday, six on Sunday and two on Monday. There are currently 46 active cases with one hospitalization, while 2,905 cases are considered recovered.

There was one additional death reported due to complications from the virus, bringing the county’s total to 51. The individual died on Oct. 10 and was over 75 years old.
